My hiss gate saga continues. They have sourced me a 4th phone to pickup now at a London store.

Not far away so going there now. Pretty sure it will also be hissing haha

Ouch... old Steve would be once again turning in his grave.
Perhaps Apple will introduce a design fix for later batches of iPhones? Still..at least they dont spontaneously combust!
 
I took my 7+ in this lunchtime and got a refund. What I didn't say last night is that in a fit of fickleness I checked the opening times of Cribbs, raced up to the Samsung Experience Store and bought an S7 Edge along with some charging pads and a case.
I'm not prepared to give up on Apple just yet so I'm going to return the S7E tonight as it's still sealed in its box. I hear they're a bit funny on returns, if they allow it then I'm getting an iPhone 5se, otherwise I'll stick with the edge.

On a serious note I've got a 7+ on pre-order that's due to be delivered 3 Oct - 7 Oct.

Can't say I want a hissing phone, my 6+ certainly does not do that.

Not sure what to do?

Mine just shipped as well, iPhone 7 Plus 128GB... I originally ordered the normal iPhone 7 in Jet Black but decided to get the plus and Normal Black after seeing the effort it would take to even keep the Jet Black looking half decent.

4th one is a lot quieter, still has a (faint) hiss but miles better than the first 3. Video recording seems to have the awful sound picked up despite being in a dead quiet room. So I did a few things here

1. Played video in VLC app in phone - can hear the awful sound (was exactly same volume as other iPhones I tried)
2. Played video in iPad - can hear the awful sound but slightly less in volume
3. Played video in Mac = can hear the awful sound but even more less in volume

Not sure if the static is related directly to the hissing (it seems more constant whereas the hissing is up and down in noise.

I think I will give up for replacements for now (kudos to the store, were awesome) as I have one which is better.
 
Apparently now being referred to as #hissgate online. Apple is being pressed to make a statement but as usual nothing yet. Those in the know say it's likely to be a component hardware issue and if so a software fix is unlikely to work.

Simply reporting what I have read to date.
