Well it's still a compromise because it'll only last as long as the case, it's no longer as simple as get to your seat, headphones in, USB cable from seat to phone.. profit.

It's not the end of the world it's just irritating.

He's right, it's a great phone, very happy with mine.

The insight you had about people being caught out obviously comes from a great many observations about this very point over months and months on tons of sites, in fact the anniversary model could easily have been dreamed up by those sites seeing as Apple to my knowledge have said nothing as usual.

Plenty of people like me know exactly what they're getting into and still love the phone then there's plenty of people like a couple of relatives and colleagues of mine who know it'll likely be different next year and don't care because they either want or need a new phone?

You can try stoking it up however you want but your opinion isn't "right"

Plenty of people are going to buy this, love it, not feel at all ripped off and just enjoy life with the latest thing not going bust or being financially disadvantaged by it etc and make whatever decisions they need to about next year.... next year.

It is like yours just an opinion and like yours is just as valid. Lots of people neither want or can afford to change their phones every year and it is I think those who may feel let down.

I don't think I am wrong either about next years redesign.

Thanks for the replies regarding my questions.

Whats ios like now (i did have the Iphone 4) would there be any parts of android people have missed (those that jumped ship recently?)

Get the best of both worlds. Buy the phone but load it up with Google apps. They work seamlessly and provide a better experience.

I doubt you're all that wrong in parroting what you've read on literally every single apple blog either.

Why? do you think me incapable of original thought? It doesn't take a rocket scientist to work these things out.

Just a thought, perhaps if every blog is saying this then they may just be right. Could it be you that's not singing from the same hymn sheet?

I'm not saying it's wrong I'm saying you're parroting what's been on various blogs for months and as per usual spinning it into another reason people might be disappointed.

I'm not sure on the original thought, haven't seen much evidence of it.

No entirely correct. Try them and you'll agree.

Of course it's subjective. Some will prefer one, others the other.

many would argue it's now playing catchup with Android.

Who exactly? Android fans?

I can't think of one thing that Android can do that I would want that my iPhone can't do. On the other hand there's lots my iPhone can do that I would miss if I were to go to Android.

I had Android for 4 years or so before moving back to iOS so I know it quite well.

In no particular order.......

1) Unlimited free storage on google
2) Fast charging
3) Changeable batteries on android phones
4) Headphone Port
5) Change Default Apps
6) Customise the Interface
7) Charge With Any USB Cable
8) Wireless Charging
9) Expandable Storage

11) Android pay doesn't require a fingerprint scanner phone
12) Access Android phone directly on PC and copy files directly of any kind.

Shall I go on ? :p ;) :D

Well said that man. Too many kids with too little knowledge and blinkered vision. :D I take the best of anything out there and am not wedded to one particular vision.

oh god this again.. it's horses for courses, there's parity for the most part so I'd say it's down to personal preference.

I bounce between the two but because I spend more of my time on iOS it's more familiar and I'm more invested in the ecosystem so I tend to gravitate towards it but I wouldn't say either was much better than the other.

the whole default apps thing is an irritation on iOS whereas (IMO) the general polish/app store etc is superior on iOS, iOS is much more restrictive so you do bump into things you can't do, android often comes with issues around late/cancelled OS updates.

Etc etc etc.

In no particular order.......

1) Unlimited free storage on google - if you buy a pixel phone? (not sure tbh but wasn't aware of unlimited free storage any other way)
2) Fast charging - on some models, not all, if you buy optional extras
3) Changeable batteries on android phones - on some, not the flagships other than LG, samsung, sony, HTC etc all seem to have dropped this
4) Headphone Port - fair point but it is starting to go from some devices
5) Change Default Apps - easily the plus point for me although the only default app I want is bloody chrome as my browser on iOS
6) Customise the Interface - yay themes
7) Charge With Any USB Cable - charge with any lightning cable? They're not exactly expensive and using iffy micro usb or usb-c cables can end badly
8) Wireless Charging - on some models, not all, if you buy optional extras
9) Expandable Storage - on some models, often not on flagships
10) Android Offerings Have Higher-Res Screens - some, with debatable benefits to the image quality and measurable impacts on battery life
11) Android pay doesn't require a fingerprint scanner phone - it really should
12) Access Android phone directly on PC and copy files directly of any kind - fair point if your nerd skills are strong, really not an issue to 99% of the smartphone buying public

Shall I go on ? :p ;) :D

See :) horses for courses. There's no right or wrong here just 2 fully mature, largely feature equal operating systems.

And incidentally this is the iPhone 7 thread, not the which is right or wrong thread.

1) Unlimited free storage on google
I have 50GB for 80p a month, plus 1TB with OneDrive, more than enough. Plus, no privacy concerns as there are with Google.
2) Fast charging
Granted, it would be nice. But I charge my phone roughly once every 2 days and I think there's only been once or twice in the past year where fast charging would have been useful.
3) Changeable batteries on android phones
I generally only keep my phones for a year or two. Even when on Android I never changed the battery.
4) Headphone Port
I hardly use headphones, when I do, I'll just use the supplied lightning pods or the adaptor. No biggie.
5) Change Default Apps
This would be nice, I'm using Chrome and the constant copy/paste can be annoying. May switch to Safari though. Can't say I notice it with anything else though. One thing that bugs me about Android is constantly being asked what app to do what.
6) Customise the Interface
Barely did this anyway, I work in IT customising things all the time. I'm at the point now where I just want to pick up a phone and use it. iPhone does that. So does Android, but changing an interface is of little concern to me.
7) Charge With Any USB Cable
My mates 6P will only charge with a USB-C cable. He was round the other day, I had loads of USB cables but no USB-C. So works both ways.
8) Wireless Charging
Would be handy but not something I'm overly concerned about. Never used it with my Nexus phones anyway as it is so slow.
9) Expandable Storage
Which is often slow and the last I checked you can't move apps to it. I've more than enough free space on my phone and a further 1TB in OneDrive, if I run out I have options such as compressing my music library.
10) Android Offerings Have Higher-Res Screens
iPhone has retina so screen res is just a urinating contest that Android handset manufacturers love, which serves to drain batteries faster at no noticeable difference to the naked eye. It also looks just as good (OLED aside).
11) Android pay doesn't require a fingerprint scanner phone
Which would concern me. I've used Apple Pay loads and I don't see how not having a fingerprint scanner would make it easier or more secure.

Shall I go on ? :p ;) :D

If you wish, but what you've listed really doesn't make me want to completely ditch an ecosystem to move back to Android, which is what I said above.

Im on the fence about switching to ios, but half of these points have nothing to do with android? Most seem hardware orientated to me. So I don't quite understand the "playing catch up with android" comment.

Because that is just some of what is available with the Android eco system which incorporates hardware and not available with iOS. No one is saying iOS is rubbish because it clearly isn't. However, it has become somewhat stale of late and is not innovating as fast as Android hence the comment.

You've listed 12 points and only one (change default apps) is a decent feature. Certainly not enough to make me switch for my personal phone when the iPhone does everything I need and want.
