It seems we can't talk about iPhones in the iPhone thread without people suggesting we're better off on android

Indeed. I agree with you. This thread is for iPhone talk. So less android, more iPhone :D

Still loving mine. Don't think I'll be going back to android if the 8 turns out as good as this 7!!

Well got me refund on me note 7 today and put that £700 towards a 7 plus jet black which was in stock at Exeter Apple Store. Lovely looking phone but so was the note 7

I'm restoring my 7+ now and it is hissing badly. I can live with that but if there is background noise on recorded videos then it's defo going back.

Sigh :/

Can you distinguish for me between the hissing and background noise while recording?

I have a iPhone 5(spare), 5s (work phone), 6(wifes) and 7+(personal) and all of them have background noise when recording video. My 7+ however has no coil whine / hissing while recording like I've seen in some of the videos in this thread.

Yeah the sounds are different. The coil whine sounds like the hiss you hear in pipes when a water tank or cistern is nearly full - there is a quiet hiss interspersed with gaps.
When I recorded on my first plus there was a whining sound in the background. The replacement doesn't have that but there is still a background hiss which is loud compared to a similar recording on my S7 edge.

*Bites*

In no particular order.......

1) Unlimited free storage on google
2) Fast charging
3) Changeable batteries on android phones
4) Headphone Port
5) Change Default Apps
6) Customise the Interface
7) Charge With Any USB Cable
8) Wireless Charging
9) Expandable Storage
10) Android Offerings Have Higher-Res Screens
11) Android pay doesn't require a fingerprint scanner phone
12) Access Android phone directly on PC and copy files directly of any kind.

Shall I go on ? :p ;) :D

Don't forget burst into flames and explode

Meanwhile back in iPhone land it appears that the 32GB owners have to put up with slower storage speeds.

http://thenextweb.com/apple/2016/10/19/iphone-7-storage-speed-test/

On the face of it it's a bit poor, I would love to see what the real world difference was though.. especially considering most 32gb owners wouldn't be able to test side by side with a 128gb etc.. also I suspect the doubling of memory is of greater concern than it's speed.

However it would be cheeky of Apple to have given the 32gb slower memory if true. Not devastating but cheeky.

Couldn't the speed difference be something to do with free memory? I mean even the 32gb probably only has something like 20gb free?

It's not that they have given it slower memory, it's that it has less channels to write to, this is how all solid state disks have worked since forever.

As most users will be reading rather than writing, in day to day use it's not really an issue. I definitely don't feel that my 32GB iPhone 7 is slow in any way and I had a 64GB 6 previously.

I finally got a replacement 7+ today, got it set up and so far all seems good. Can't hear any coil whine unless I really press my ear to the phone, and even then it's only the faintest noise. Much, much better than the one I had before.

Did you get a retail replacement?
