lol, I don't know any iphone users that want to remove the home button. Its horrible using a phone without one. How would you do touchID as well?

I must admit I do quite like the home button... I know there's acres of bezel and I'd happily see some of that go and I think losing the button is somewhat inevitable, lots of rumours of it somehow being included in the screen in future which defies my pathetic understanding of tech but there we go.

Very happy to be back with a non edge screen too, touchid is way faster than the samsung implementation on the S7 edge in my experience (although I may well not have been using it right) and I'm done with edge screens if I can help it.. so many unintended inputs.. it drove me mad.

I just don't believe lightning socket is going to last. On my iPhone 6 while charging I can move phone a little and it disconnects. No matter what it's not as secured as jack. Good to have apple care if that happens quickly with 7

Have you looked inside for fluff? Mine was like that and I used a safety pin and removed a load of crud. Perfect now.

This normally happens if there dirt or fluff in the jack

Tell them the payoff is that the screen is edge-to-edge and see if their attitude changes.

I don't think it will. I have played with an edge to edge curved screen and hated it. Didn't like the look or the feel or the way it destorted the edge of the display. If they did that I would be seriously annoyed. The top and bottom bezels could be smaller but the side ones are fine.

Most people keep their phones in cases anyway so the bezel is almost an irrelevance.

If it happens then I guess the touch id will go on the apple logo on the back of the phone (where finger print scanners should be!) A reduction in vertical bezels would be most welcome.
Don't think apple will go down the "edge" display route though - whilst it looks nice its actually pretty useless in use.

They won't do that. Its a horrible place to put it for many reasons.

Everyones thumb moves on a nice plane to reach the current location but if you move it to the back then you have to start using different fingers and holding it weirdly.

You can't unlock it when its on a desk without picking it up.

You can't have a case without a horrible hole in the back for it.

Your thumb is the least abused finger out of all of them wear and tear wise usually so it makes sense to have it as the usual digit to use. If I am climbing a lot my other fingers get ruined to the point of not working on touchID.

They will still have some sort of physical button on the front for home, app switching, siri etc.

How do you tell where the touchID is on the back without it having a very obvious depression or raised area.

Guys do you know a way to transfer all my text messages to the 7 without doing a restore? I fancy a fresh start with everything except messages - I thought it might pull them from the cloud but they still seem to be local?

Did yours arrive from EE today?

I don't think you can do that.

TBH once you've gone back more than about a week in any in depth conversation it takes FOOOOOREVER to search anyway.

If you've got some texts you really want to keep it'll be restoring and then removing all the stuff you don't want, but to be honest as far as I understand it there's no really massive gains to be had by starting from scratch?
