I don't want to seem like I'm trolling, but unless you're spending 6-700 quid on your Galaxy phones or other high end Android phones, then you're just getting garbage

You just have to accept that for a premium phone, upwards of £600 is what you're expecting to pay. Bet the Galaxy S8 doesn't start below £600 next year

OnePlus3, Sony X etc. both excellent phones at a much cheaper price point and the reviews will tell you they are certainly not garbage. Most people buy a Flagship phone then never make use of it's speed or features according to many surveys.

You can get a decent android phone for around £300 these days which only really loses out on the camera and obviously the Apple ecosystem.

I wouldn't buy a high end android as the prices are too close to the iPhones but the mid-range ones are tempting!

I don't really follow part of that argument. This is 2016 not 7 years ago. iOS is not longer special, in fact if anything iOS is now playing catchup with Android in many respects.

It's the same with my Mac - Apple have taken their eye off the ball or aren't really interested in the computer division whilst the opposition have caught up.

Too many people are still dazzled by Apple's past achievements.

iOS is 'special' enough in many respects, Android apps are not yet up to my standards, they never have been.

You have to look at the iPhone as a complete package of hardware and software. iOS is still unique really, even if you can achieve similar things with Android equivalents.

It's hard to argue that the OnePlus 3 isn't better value though, but not everyone wants the best value.

I've never understood the amazement with the apple camera wither.
The sub £200 LG 5X will take truly amazing shots, and the lens is a lot wider. I'd actually go as far as to say that this phone has the best camera on the market today.

The 6 and I presume 7 wobt be able to touch it imo.

Comparing the 6S and 7 side by side the 6S loads apps faster. Looks like the slower cores that are in use for mundane OS tasks is having an impact.

Also seems they don't store in memory as well, look at this quick comparison of my 6S and 7 opening the same browser page a few times.

IPhone 7 on the left, 6S on the right. If you wait until the third load I manage to get them at the same time. You can clearly see the 6S instantly showing the saved page and also the smoother transition closing the app.

I suspect this is something to do with the low power cores on the IP7

I've gone from a 6 straight to a 7 so this is my first time messing with 3D touch...

SUCH a shame that the awesome Gboard has a vastly inferior trackpad mechanism (from the space bar, and only left and right).

I hope they do an update soon taking advantage of the 3d touch similar to the built in version... Until then I'll leave both keyboards activated I guess

Managed to reserve a Gold 7+ via the upgrade program link, does anyone know if they will let you just purchase outright when you pick up?

Not sure about Gold, but might live with it for a week and see if either I like it, or a black/silver one becomes available

I don't see why not given the iPUP allows you to pay off in full at any point anyway.

I expect i'll pay for 11 months, see how the 7S/8 turns out and then either stick or pay the 7 off so I can sell it for more towards the upgrade.

It looks to be poor value for the customer if you trade in at 11 months, I think that's what Apple are hoping as it would make them a good amount of money.

I still maintain iPhone launches are a farce though, I mean setting an alarm for 5.45am just so I can refresh a webpage and rush to reserve? Urgh.

I don't see the point of this upgrade program. As still when the new iPhone comes out you could still be waiting a month for the new one or even 2 on some models.

Was going get a iPhone 7 plus but having a play with one yesterday I don't see it as much as a upgrade to me. I felt my 6s plus was faster.
