Pre-ordered my matt black iPhone 7 128gb in store last sunday week & picked it up Friday morning on the 16th.

Didn't fancy the website route.

Cheers all

Hmm. Will be interesting to see how that compares to online orders/upgrades. I didn't do my upgrade order until Thursday 15th as my contract didn't end until then. The website was saying up to 5 weeks but I'm really hoping that is a overly conservative estimate by O2. The 6plus I have now is playing up (touch screen issues) so the new one can't come fast enough

On 3D Touch devices you don't swipe, you 3D Touch the notification.

Totally different action. A hard press gives you a preview of the message in question in isolation. The swipe allows you to unlock the phone then go straight to the messages/email app as it always has.

It's just totally unreliable. You can swipe repeatedly on the same notification and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't and just bounces back.

EDIT: I guess I could try to train myself to use the 3D Touch method - it achieves a similar thing but, when you close the message window, you're back at the lock screen again rather than unlocked. It's just that I've been using the swipe system for years on my 5S and it's become second nature. Now suddenly it's unreliable which annoys me intensely.

Just been sitting back watching this one - arguably the worst iphone update ever - especially for a new line number, so apple purposefully limit stock to have 'sold out' everywhere - its a game, I'm kind of annoyed to be honest as when they made the 1st iphone it really made everyone else innovate - no massive leaps now, the samsung range comfortably destroys the iphones - for a person who likes to use their phone for tasks, helping with my life and business, as a tool you might say as well as an aesthetic experience the next iphone needs at the very minimum:

1) WAY better design - whats with the massive handle bars top n bottom apple ? EVERYONE else can loose an inch from the length of the phone and still have better tech

2) edge to edge screen (relating to the above point)

3) wayyyyyyy bigger battery, especially for the gigantic bezles these things have, should be tons room

4) HD ? Please? (only present in +, which itself needs to be QHD)

5) OIS in the zoom lens - facepalm.jpg putting it in a wide angle.... -_-

6) F1.7 lenses please !!!!

7) decent duel mics for video recording

Basically they need to create something technically similar AND better to a note 7 or 7edge - the processor in it now is plentyyyyyyy fast enough - time to work on the rest now

I think I disagree with almost all your points which goes to show you can't please everyone.

All you guys struggling to get hold of any phones I suggest you pop down to your local John Lewis.
They are showing no stock online at all but I have just popped in to my local branch and they had the 128GB 7 in stock in black.
In fact they had 7 of them, and they come with a 2yr warranty and are truly unlocked like apple ones.

So you wouldn't want an improved camera, longer lasting battery or a better screen?

No matter what device you have aren't they improvements we would all want?

Better screen is debatable. I'm not at all convinced by this QHD business. Plus more pixels equals more power required equals bigger battery for the same standby.

The iPhone 7 has a battery around half the size of the Note 7 with similar performance and no bangy bangy. You get that adding tons of battery increases weight? I know a lot of people say they wouldn't mind.. so how come things with massive batteries that already exist sell like ass?

I guess on the improved camera you mean OIS on the plus? Personal no issue that but I get that some might like it.

Personally I thought the iPhone camera was already amazing so we're talking very small improvements here.

And then you don't have to deal with the (strongly IMHO this I appreciate) still pretty shocking state of the android marketplace.

OK, I'm going to do it...

I will list my 2 day old Jet Black 128GB Plus for sale in the For Sale section.

I prefer the Matte which should be here in a couple of days. So, to help someone out who wants a 128GB JB, I'll list it here. It's from John Lewis, perfect condition without a single mark.

Just to be clear I'm on Android but no phone is perfect and the next iPhone will be better than this one, that's just progress so I don't know why people think it's only a good decision if Apple do it...

QHD may be overkill I grant you but HD should be standard by now.

OIS on the camera is a plus but a f1.7 lens is better than f1.8, that's a simple fact, irrespective of manufacturer, it's a good camera already no doubt, but if it was even better wouldn't that be nice?

The iPhone does have great battery life in comparison to many other phones, but I want a phone which lasts 3 days, who wouldn't want that? I know we're years from that but that's what we as consumers should be striving for.

I do have to take issue with the complaint against the Android store, it's absolutely fine, it lists apps, what more do you want? They do offer a lot of good discounts from time to time, more than I've seen with the App Store, plus you get things like the Humble Bundles for Android which is nice.

If people download some dodgy piece of crap then that's their own fault but anything in the top few thousand will be fine and I bet the top 100 will mirror the App Store for the most part.

You are making the classic Android mistake of confusing specs with quality - and calling the android app store 'fine' is hardly a ringing endorsement.

Yes I want a self driving car and to be able to sleep off a night out on the way to work and we'll get there but we're not there now.. so what's your point?

Yes I want 3 days battery and this and that and etc.. but thats progress, it's not binary and it comes in stages.

And the android marketplace most certainly is not fine, discovery is awful, quality is awful, many top results are adware loaded crap etc etc. The only good thing about it is you can get refunds.

the quality of games etc outside of AAA titles is also shockingly bad in comparison to itunes.. oh what's this? Another stickman title and about a million clones of every app that's ever been successful, I'd say both stores but especially the play store needs to be so much more aggressive with protecting developers IP by proactively taking down copies.. A great example is when Threes! became so popular, seconds later there was Fives!, Fours!, Millions! etc

Frustrating but I'd say... a fact... it's total wild west and saying "if you download some crap it's your fault" how could you ever know if something was going to be any good or not before you've downloaded and installed it?

True re. IP protection, but all the app stores are loaded with cloned rubbish, Apple, Amazon, Microsoft and Android. Hardly any cloned apps are going to make their way up the charts to the point that I'd probably even see them.

Personally I don't download games with only a couple of reviews and a low number of downloads, I'd stick to well known stuff or trusted developers.

Standard responses, at least a couple forum members have some sense..... As said above ignoring brand loyalty, why wouldn't anyone not want obvious improvements in the iPhone in areas its lacking?

I'd buy it if it fixed those problems, particularly confusing is the response of that someone doesn't care or doesn't agree they need ois on the zoom Lens not wide angle..... Why would you say that? It's basic fundamental principles and physics, I'm a full time photographer, it's quite obvious ois benefits a zoomed lens.... Frankly it's pointless to say you don't care because as the video test shows on super saf, it's wobbly as all hell..... This is basic design and logic issue, you'd think Apple would get basic design knowledge down to a T, wide no ois, zoom ois.... Really obvious. I don't care who built it, that's a dumb choice.

It's a nice feature, makes adding things like custom ringtones so simple, I don't think it's something that Apple will ever adopt to be honest.

Oh that's another thing. Would be nice if you could set song to ringtones. I'm used to making them now but it's a layer of faff I wouldn't need.

Small complaints though. An Android phone would have to be monumentally better than an iPhone for me to even consider the switch
