Took my phone off of charge at 1am yesterday morning once I'd set everything up so I could get a good sense of how the battery would fare-coming from a 6 Plus this was my main concern.

Battery died at 8pm and that was with my regular usage throughout the day (around 7/8 hours). So I'm pretty pleased with that myself and think my move down to the regular sized phone will be ok.

Definitely enjoying the smaller form factor so far.

Odd finding mine lasting longer and am heavy user

I thought I was a medium to heavy user - at least 30 mins a day in the car as a sat-nav, Bluetooth permanently on (Apple Watch ), plus copious amounts of Facebook, Twitter and Chrome, but I could regularly get 36 hours or more out of a full charge on my IP6. That's tailing off a little bit now the phone is two years old, but considering what the thing is doing I'm happy with that.

That said, I'm pretty strict with Background App Refresh, which was known to be a bit of a battery hog - probably 90% of my apps have that turned off.

Expecting an improvement when I eventually get my 7+ though ... alas, still waiting for Apple and Three to get their collective fingers out

The average person spends 5 hours a day on their phone.

1,825 hours per year, more if you are a power user like most people on OcUK.

An iPhone even at contract prices is decent value if you are going to be using it that much considering going to the cinema would cost you £10 for a couple of hours.

Anyway you have ignored my point which is that you humblebragging about how little money you spend is very tiresome.

I think the only reference to how much money I spend was the 'one' reference to how much I pay for my SIM. Perhaps you need to read the posts again.

Who are these average people that spend 5 hours a day on their phone? I certainly don't know anyone like that. I would suggest that anyone that does spend that sort of time on a phone really needs to take a good look at the quality of their life.

Battery is fantastic on my 7 Plus. Trick is to set up as new device and not from backup which I do every year when I upgrade.

Why would setting up as new phone would improve battery pls

Smells like BS too me!

No advantage setting up as a new device.

I'll be restoring from my IP6+ to IP7+ and I know it will work perfect without all the hassle of installing apps and everything else manually.

That's the purpose of iCloud.

FAO to those purchasing the 256GB models - what's your reasoning behind it? What would you be storing on the phone to require that memory?

This isn't in anyway a loaded question; it's pure intrigue as to how different people use their phone and what for.

Eg I have a 64GB with 7,000 photos, about a 100 podcasts, numerous apps and I still have 7GB available.

I ordered a 256gb because I want to shoot 4K video of my little one. Apparently it's 300mb/min so 100mins is gonna eat 30gb easy. Another way, a couple of 5min videos a week is gonna eat 78gb over a year. So the storage is worth it. Not to mention all the content I could store locally for trips (videos and games for little one)

Third one has it as well. Starting to think this is quite widespread.

Not sure what to do. Part of me thinks to wait to see what officially happens or wait 2 weeks for a newer batch and replace again...

Walked into EE to talk about my upgrade. Managed to walk out with (pre order) 128gb Matt black plus for £49 a month with no up front fee :D including 12 month upgrade.

Reason being. Atm I have 30% discount as I had a friend who worked there a couple years ago and managed to get the discount added to my contract )which shouldn't of happened at the time) he doesn't work there anymore so was expecting to lose it when upgrading.

But I walked in and asked about pricing, he loaded up my account and the 30% was showing as an option to click so he did ! Cool guy just helping a bro out it seems..

So it's the £70 a month contract with 25gb data, 2 years bt sport and Apple Music.

Paying £49 with upgrade in 12 months. Is this good as a carrier deal compared to but No outright etc?

I use my phone enough to the extent that spending £900 on a phone is a lot more sensible than spending the same amount on a laptop.

Horses for courses I suppose. I'd be lucky if I spend 15 minutes a day using mine even on a busy day. For me nothing comes close to replacing my Mac desktop and certainly not the tiny screen on a phone.

My data usage is almost zero as even at work we have access to free WiFi.

I tend to use about 10GB at least month. I rarely turn wifi on unless I need it as 4G is more than good enough these days.

Smart phones have made laptops, aside from Gaming laptops (and I even dislike those) redundant for me as most things I can do on my phone these days.

Haha, yeah, god bless their unlimited. I got my phone on Friday and since then I've use 1.5GB already and I hardly used my phone yesterday as was out drinking all day lol.

I was so angry when 02 took away the unlimited deals with the iPhone which it launched with.

I was absolutely ****ed when O2 removed it as well. I stayed with them since the first iPhone but had to jump to Three.

I've just moved from Three to O2, I found their data shocking in the last year or so. Shame as they used to be really good around here. Their complaints team told me it was utilisation in the Gloucester area.
