No comment on this game as I don't own it, but devs can't win if people complain about stuttering in-game when they don't pre-compile shaders and can't wait 15 mins for it to compile shaders.

Even on a game like this pre-compiling shaders shouldn't take 15 minute let alone the kind of times people are reporting with this game - very poor optimisation even with a visually complex game if it is taking more than 5-10 minutes max.

Someone on the PCMR Facebook page said they fixed their crash to desktop by changing manually managed pagefile in Windows to system/max.

Tends to suggest there is a significant memory leak and you are just delaying performance degradation and possibly later crashes - unless people have pagefile disabled or poorly configured. Few games actually need to use more than a few 100MB of the pagefile.

I read a comment on another forum saying setting the game's fps via NVCP to your monitor's refresh rate helps the camera panning "stutter"^

Just stomped their head clean off

Pagefile to system managed made no difference to the CTD when VRAM limit is reached. Back to Character + Environment textures on High :p

3 hours in and now getting CTDs randomly. So we can say for certain it's not VRAM related because with all 4 texture settings set to high resulting in under 10GB VRAM use, it still happens.

Patch soon then? :o

I have mainly the same system as you.

I've done the oodle fix, which cut down the pre-cache time, and am running everything at ultra @ 3440x1440, excepting turning off film gash, motion blurb, chromatic crap, with FSR2. and it's running fantastic, everything I hoped, that scene that gimp posted with a 4090 stuttering, nope, super smooth here.

And it's one of those games that syncs with ICue, and controls your Corsair peripherals, so added lighting effects!

And @mrk, no jossing, honestly, I'm playing with the PS5 controller, and anybody who isn't, you're missing out on soooo much feedback, it's untrue.

Do you have a link to the oodle fix? I would like to try that as am convinced if it's true that the version the game uses is bugged due to memory leak, then that will sort this issue.

Cheers tried it out and can confirm that... it did not fix the CTD :p

For ref, the VRAM use by the game is below 10GB still, even with everything set on Ultra, so it's definitely not VRAM related this much is clear I'd say.

Here's the RTSS at the exact time or the crash:

What puzzles me is why are the E-Cores being used by teh game? I have no background apps active during gameplay so why is the game using E-Cores when they are basiclaly never used in other games...

It could well be a memory leak elsewhere unrelated to the oodle dll library.

Naughty Dog have made a statement too, so let's see how long the patch takes to come.
