The Lord of the Rings Online - Name / Class / Server thread .. etc etc

ah lotro my one great love how i miss thee

3,000 hours of game time and i havnt logged on for nearly a month!

got bored with the moria end game and the grind when my characters got to lvl 60, there were also some other changes i didnt like too much.

in saying that i had been stuck at end game for a long time so i wouldnt say u get bored of it all that fast.

im just waiting for mirkwood expansion so that i can get back into it, am currently playing wow and aion in the interim but neither feels like it will hold me the way lord of the rings did.

feel free to add me as a friend but i wont be online other than to maybe do a bit of crafting :)

Laurelin or Eldar seem to be the best out of the servers, for classes it doesnt really matter, there is no bad class, just choose which one/style you like the most.

About the mirkwood expansion, turbine (US server peeps) have announced that it'll be free for long term (3,6,12month) subscribers and theres also an adventurers pack thats adds characters slots, extra storage among other things. Codemasters (EU) have said they will be announcing their own offers soon.

Does anyone know where I can get a 60 day timecard?

I've looked everywhere but they are all out of stock.

BTW, Kerio | Dwarf | Laurelin

I know it sucks. They'll sell them in a local gaming shop for about £15. I took a break from this just after MoM came out, use to pay £17.99 for 3 months on a deal I got with the game. Now they're asking for £25.95 for 3 months or £8.99 pm :(
I'm that cheap I didn't renew my subscription lol.

Just started with this again on Eldar, played a long time ago but had to cancel due to work.

Anybody playing on Eldar and levelling a new toon?

Well :)

Snowbourn.

Lotro is still a classic PvE game and if you have not done end-game in lotro go for it its not as 'easy' as people make it out. Mirkwood the new expansion is adding scalable instances plus new raid and landmass + 5 more levels. It also seems Turbine will be adding Dx11 support SOON!.

Well we will see how it turns out.

*waves at Loki*

I enjoyed the game whilst it lasted, plus the United Kingdoms guild was good fun :) i got frustrated with all the radiance malarky needed for the watcher and that, and the thought of having to start again without a horse scared me! then they brought in that elves (Lorien is what i was thinking of) bit with all the repeatable missions and i lost interest. did they fix the rewards from all those quests in the end?

having said that though, the mirkwood expansion looks pretty good, changes to the legendary weapons (no mention of the drop rates?), the instances thing and more quests have again peeked my interest. when is it due?

I think the US release date is early December so we should be getting it the same time/within a week of that. You can preorder the pack now for some extra goodies (cant remember what) but sadly its only direct download via codemasters so no picking it up for super cheap like SOA & Moria.

The goodies are a bit naff if I remember correctly - a cloak and a riding goat.

I suppose you could use the cloak to cover the goat so that nobody sees you riding your goat :D

cheers for the answers. the pricing structure is quite interesting if complicated. effectively if you have a multi-month plan you get the siege of mirkwood free. random.

bbq sauce

Any current or former player who renews or upgrades their subscription to any multi-month plan by October 31st gets the Siege of Mirkwood digital expansion for FREE!
This applies to any plan in which you pay for 3, 6, or 12 months at a time. If you already have an existing plan from this category, you need to do nothing 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.

However, if you are currently not subscribed or paying only month-to-month, you would need to change your billing cycle into one of these plans in order to take advantage of the offer 2. This includes people who pay using game cards, as game cards do not count as having a subscription and thus cannot take advantage of the free SoM offer 20

If you are a lifetime member, you will NOT get the Siege of Mirkwood digital expansion for free, including if you upgrade to lifetime during this offer 2. However, you can pre-order the Adventurer's Pack for $19.99, and this purchase will include SoM for free 7, 8. The Adventurer's Pack will only include Siege of Mirkwood for free if you do have a lifetime account.

Further, you'll notice the October 31st date there. The offers listed here are only good until October 31st - meaning that Lifetime subscribers must preorder the Adventure Pack before then if they want SoM for free, single-month or not-subscribed customers must sign up for a multi-month plan before October 31st if they want SoM for free, and anyone with a current multimonth plan must keep that plan running from at least October 31st through December 1st in order to get SoM for free 6, 19. October 31st is also the cutoff for ordering the Adventure Pack so that you can get the Goat and Cloak as pre-order exclusives 23, 24.

so pay for 3 months in the next 10 days and get it for free? sounds like a plan, looks like i'll be playing again then.

ah sadly your link is to the US forums so the information doesnt apply to EU ... we are getting NO discounts or freebies

My story near matches yours!

The problem I have is, I tend to like to play in bursts, lots of time, till I get bored then maybe not play for 2-3 months, meaning finding a half decent guild is impossible as most kick inactive members.

I tried some end game content, but, I simply don't like it, tried the same place several times, one of the 3 man lvl 60 ones, Hall of Mirrors I think, first group insisted they knew what to do for hardmode, we got spanked on the final boss time and time again. They were wrong, did it with another group who couldn't get past the first Warg Boss because neither knew what the heck they were doing. WIthout a Kin I have no intention of running end game stuff, and I have no intention of joining a new kin everytime I want to enjoy the game.

Third group did it quickly easily, with no issues. its just not fun trying PUG after PUG till you get someone who knows what they are doing. Then having to run that content time after time, then moving onto a new instance, and doing 3-4 instances, getting the kit before you can move on to the bigger instances. I got bored finishing one instance once, likewise its the same damn place for the newer book meaning I can't get past that and I can never find a group to finish Volume 1 anymore, the last 3-4 books are a no go unless you spend every waking second in every LFF chanel.

I love the world, I enjoy leveling, I enjoy the classes mostly with only a few niggling things, but theres only so many times you can level to 60 before its boring, end game is a total no go area for me.

I got the lifetime sub long enough ago that it was decent value to get it, I'll pick up expansions and try the new leveling content and quests but nothing end-gamey. But with expansions getting smaller, in terms of quests/leveling/content thats not raiding, there will be less and less to do :(

The game really could do with some instanced type PVP like WOW has, so you can get relatively fair groups of creeps/freeps against each other, zerg vs zerg is rarely fun these days.

i think i have the bug back, been playing a few hours a night for the last 2 weeks and really enjoying it, as they say absence makes the heart grow fonder,

really looking forward to mirkwood now and the push to the next lvl cap and end game stuff.

already paid for the expansion £19.99 for the special edition, which has already paid for itself in subs i havent had to pay due to having lifetime.

big hello to Ninjabadga and Mr snowbourne events manager himself Honvik! /bow hope you both are well :)
