The Lord of the Rings Online - Name / Class / Server thread .. etc etc

That video just makes me sad - how utterly awesome could the game had been if they'd had a proper two sided game with adventuring areas for both sides and a load of contested zones like DaoC or Warhammer :(

That would be fantastic, to be honest its still possible to implement that now. Don't think they will of course, but its still well within the games setup to be able to implement such a system. Having said that, I don't mind too much as I enjoy lotro for what it is currently as my RP mmo , I've given up now on trying to find a pvp mmo to bring back my daoc days so my pvping mmo days are over and I've returned to my original mmo days of rping instead

Anyone still playing this ? I recently updated my client and thinking of grabbing the Isengard expansion. Left the guild I was in so looking for maybe a new home if anywhere is active.

Logged in late last night for a nose around and ended up nearly completing Epic Quest Bk 4 with a level 40 Burg on my alt 42 Minstrel, was good fun.

I bought the LOTR vanilla retail game a long time ago, I intend to play for free - will I get something back for having paid for the basic game?

Thanks.

yes I do (lifetime), I'm sure there's another thread around here somewhere with server details and stuff on it. I'm on Snowbourne, 75 LM, other people here are on Laureillin (sp). Kin is United We Stand (http://www.uws-lotro.eu).

re the f2p question, you'll need to check the official forums for details and to be totally sure - but probably not. You'll need to login to check, if you've previously subscribed you may do but there have been 3 or so expansions since the original.

If you remained subscribed, i think you get VIP access and some points every month, i have a lifetime subscription, so i automatically qualified for VIP status.

I think purchasing the game gets you premium status, which gives a number of benefits over the basic F2P status - extra character & bag slots for example, but I'm not sure exactly what you gain. Lifetimer here too, currently inactive but likely to get back into it when I have little else to do :)

I've got lifetime and intend to be back at some point but I'm busy not having enough time to play the Star Wars one at the moment, so trying to play 2 MMOs is out of the question :)

Frankly nothing about the latest updates/expansions has compelled me to stay back in LOTRO for long. Maybe the one they have announced for autumn will. Until then I just pop in about once a month, pay house rent, have a brief chat with kinnies, give a dark look to every store button I see and leave.

I'm just letting my points build up for Rohan when it comes out, it's one of the places I've been really waiting for them to get around to.

Mounted combat sounds interesting too, if they can get it right.

free update 6 hits soon 'Shore of the Great River' the journey towards ROHAN!!

I didn't purchase the Isengard expansion but I'm quite tempted to do so as I don't have a sub to any MMo atm.

**on the store if you put the base version in the basket then change currency to GBP its £18.97, however if you select GBP first it's £22.99 ????**

I recently spent about 4k TP's on unlocking the highest ranked creep skills :p

one word of caution, you cannot buy the whole "expansion" from the store, you can only buy the components of the expansion. it's an important distinction.

i'm a lifer and thought i'd use my accumulated tp to buy the Isenguard expansion. In the store I bought what I thought was the expansion but it turned out to be just the quest packs. I didn't realise this until I tried to do Draigloch and upgrade my skirmish soldier past 65.

so, a word of caution that's all :)

Just reinstalled this and looking forward to getting back into it.
Used to play on Laurelin as a LoreMaster Elf name Rukkia
Thinking of getting a sub this time, are there any offers running at the moment? if not whats the best sub to get?

quite correct mate, when I said 'store' I should have been more clear and said the RoI website where incidently the addon was £18.14 other day.

I was told to wait a few weeks as the Isengard pack was rumoured to be going on offer again, but regarding normal subs no idea..

Has anyone had any problems subscribing through turbine, I keep getting errors when trying to pay for a 3 month sub (on a number of cards which all work elsewhere)

Have you tried to contact customer support ? like Hikari stated quite a few of us are 'lifers' so haven't had to make any payments for a long time.

Finally got it working, under city the drop down selection for me is "rhondda-cynon-taff", however I selected "unkown" and it's worked
