*** The new MacBook/MacBook Pro thread, all info in here ***

No way I'm spending 70 quid for an adapter. Some 3rd party must make a cable eventually. I can wait.

Ah look like you had a very long day ;)

Really hope it arrives for you mate... May i ask why you went for the MB rather than MBP is it due to cost or you wanted the size?

I am a MBP owner at the moment but think if i did get a new one I think I prob get the top end MB rather than another MBP aint too sure that why I am maybe thinking getting a iMac instead for it massive screen to do my photography

Thanks mate. Apparently it will be going to the correct depot today and will be out for delivery either today or monday. Still had no proper explanation about the delivery to no 75 though, so I can't be totally sure that it will be the correct package. I live in hope!

I currently own a MBP C2D 2.3 and when the new laptops were released I really liked the look of them. I figured my MBP still had decent resale value so I decided to get a new one and sell this one. I went for a MB because as I have a PS3 now I won't want to play any games and the processor is way fast enough for what I need, plus the reduced size and weight was a draw as I take my laptop around with me a lot. The screen issues are a non-issue for me, and I have a cinema display if I need to do any graphics work.

To be honest, I would never go back to a desktop again. I think the power of modern laptops are more than enough for the majority of needs and all you need is a decent external display, and mouse and keyboard and you have an equivalent desktop machine with the added benefit of the laptop portability. As I said, I'd never go back.

I would only recommend the MBP over the MB is if you plan to play games on it or if you intend to do professional graphics work and you don't have an external display (though why you would be in this position would be a mystery). The build quality between the two has been negated in the new versions so you get all the old quality benefits of the MBP line for a fraction of the price. It's a no brainer! :)

Mine's going to see a genius this morning - superdrive's only accepting discs less than half the time.

How is it Apples fault exactly? They've contracted it out to a third-party whom - I might add - thousands of other businesses use as well.

As for the "high end and expensive purchases" - TNT won't really know nor care about the package contents, the sort of volumes they and other couriers deal with it's not even relevant. I appreciate as the end customer this package is the most important thing in the World to you, but just trying to present some perspective on this. :)

Hope you get it resolved soon.
Of course it is Apple's fault. You are not TNTs customer. I don't know why people think that when something goes wrong, they should take it up with the courier. Same thing with OcUK and CityLink - people shouldn't be calling CityLink to complain, they should be calling OcUK to complain.

You have NO contract with the courier; only Apple do.

Well, it's showing as out for delivery now after much ringing around. The moment of truth approaches!...

Keep us posted and really hope you get what you ordered... Never know could be a MBP

I know what you mean regarding that these MB and MBP are very powerful and are just as good as desktop these days... I did think about buying a external monitor and may still will.. But it the HD that lets me down too small and slow for Aperture work.

Then upgrade it! It's easier than ever! I bought a WD 360gb 7200rpm, apparently they fly in the new macbooks!

I'm tempted to buy a nice big HDD for the macbook and stick the macbook one in my PS3.

Is swapping HDDs as simple as backing up with Time Machine, swapping the drives, installing OSX and setting up Time Machine and loading the backup? Or do you just have to start again?

That's pretty much exactly how it works yeah.

I'm contemplating an SSD - the OCZ Cores are meant to work well with the MacBooks.

Kinda disappointed that the 320GB Apple upgrade isn't the WD Scorpio (it's an Hitachi) but I guess it's not the end of the World.

I got my replacement today and so far i cant find a single fault!!

I'm as happy as a pig in muck :D:D:D

I had to go back to windows in the week and even tho i'm not a windows basher it felt "hard work" after using this trackpad.

This thing has to last me 3 years :)

I'l be nagging you guys for help for the next 3 years also :D

My delivery driver also dropped mine off at a house 4 doors up, lucky they are nice people!

Off to find some desktops now and get the 9c8c colour profile on.............

Seriously? What the hell is wrong with these fools? I mean how hard is it to match the door number you ring with the one written on the bleeding box? Apple should really review their delivery policy as this seems to be happening way too often. Perhaps using only UPS as they seem to be the only company that can do their jobs properly!
