The Newcastle United Club Thread **No Spoilers**

It's like the saying you can't polish a turd

Eddie Howes best attribute is improving players and almiron is one he cannot after his best season 2 years ago
And to think there's been periods when he's been amongst our best players, under Bruce and Rafa in particular. Shows how far we've come. He leaves with nothing but goodwill as far as I'm concerned, great servant.

He was here for how many years? and never learned English...
players that came after him learned English really fast... says all I need to know.

only recently has there been any footage of him speaking even basic English.

Just talking on the pitch tbh. Limited but always gave 100%

Would have thought this would have been the first thing they did given they say the spend falls outside of PSR. Story is paywalled but almost 4 years to get to a point whereby they are ready to appoint someone to get a design started is a bit on the slow side!

That many new rules were made around sponsorship as soon as the takeover happened I’m not surprised they took their time. They instantly threw millions upgrading the current one so that was an hint that they weren’t going to rush into major development. Once in a life time cheque has always been stated around the stadium. I believe that’s now been pushed to June.

I believe we are set to announce record breaking financial numbers. It looks like we have the second biggest increase in revenue behind Arsenal. Quite a jump in matchday. If the numbers are correct.

It be interesting to see next years figures with Adidas deal and stack up and runing. I believe the revenue from stack has even surprised the club with them saying it having quite the impact on revenue. Club retail also back in house.

Seems the club now spots their next opportunity in building the most high tech training grounds in Europe with a value of around 200-250m getting quoted. That’s in around what PSG spent on theirs.

Then comes the stadium St James redevelopment or new stadium.

Matchday

Rises from £37.9m to £57.5m (up £19.6m)

Broadcasting

Rises from £165.5m to £181.7m (up £16.2m)

Commercial

Rises from £46.9m to £76.0m (up £29.7m)

Total

Rises from £250.3m to £314.4m (up £64.1m)

New training ground in the works now the Newcastle board is recommending a new 70k stadium /cough69k
Leisure, business and retail complex at Strawberry place.

Yes, but where will I park my car if they do this?
You mean they haven’t consulted you??? :D

Projects of this nature have extensive enabling phases so putting a new one close by would be part of that I'd assume, its pretty small. Maybe chuck it in the space where Stack is. This scheme makes more sense than other ideas but I can't see them getting the ok to build into the park, especially over where that bandstand is as its been there about a million years. It's all well and good Luke Edwards using his powerpoint skills to do that overlay but they need far more space than that to build it and service it when it's complete. I'd think an extension to the Gallowgate would be the most likely of outcomes though and I hope everyone is prepared for steep ticket price rises to match.

As long as the team is performing to a relatively decent standard then tickets will stay at a premium but we saw through the Ashley era, when there is a drop off you can barely give them away.

It’s a tough sell to any council but they will look at for the sheer economical boost to the area. Replacing the green land and rejuvenating the park is also in the plans that’s getting drawn up. The article says it only creeps into the park.

Craig Hope also ran the story a few days ago. Bubble wrapped stadium. Think they have been leaning towards a new stadium since the surprised results of the survey and after various fan meetings.

Have the PFA bought a large chunk of Newcastle airport yet? Seen they were after 49%

It's not as widely used a Park as it could be. If they extended it down to the Strawberry, using land vacated by the existing stadium, it could become a much nicer space. I'd hope that would result in something all parties would be happy with.

p.s. Don't think the PFA are looking to buy the airport ;)
