***The Official 5900X \5950X owners thread***

Anyone here using a 5950x on an Asus Crosshair VIII Impact ? I’d be grateful if you could share your bios settings and results.
I’m currently running BIOS 3102 with no issues, only DOCP enabled (using a 2x32Gb Crucial Ballistix kit 3600CL16) and also enabled PBO. System runs rock stable in all stress tests etc but am wondering if there’s any more performance to be had out of more tinkering with the bios. I’m also using the performance power plan in windows. Cooling is a custom loop with two 240mm radiators in an Ncase M1 using an EK VTX pump and an IceMan reservoir.
Thanks in advance.

PS: haven’t tried bios 3202 yet (AGESA 1.2.0.0) and I’m reluctant to do so since it’s so stable as it is now

What temps are you seeing with PBO on and using the performance plan?
Idle is around 40-42C with max of 71-72C on sustained heavy loads (gaming, stress testing or benching), ambient is 22-24C, water temp in the loop is 38C at idle and maxes out at 52 after sustained (looong) stressing again in gaming, rendering or benching/stressing, while GPU maxes at 56C and idles at 35C. I do get occasional momentary spikes of 80-81C on the cpu but that’s only for second or so. Max clocks I’ve seen with the current setting is 4.9-5Ghz on a single core (but doesn’t stay there long) and sustained 4.7Ghz on benching all cores.
All this is from HWInfo

Yeah that's what really bugs me about gaming. COD:Black Ops seems to be the worst, it will spike in to the low 80's for a few seconds. It's a hot CPU that's for sure, my 3900X would barely ever see in to the 70's after hours of playing, yet this can almost spike in to 70 for a second just opening Chrome :D

Hi All
I have now received an email back from AMD and all seems to be well, so guess I don't have to worry anymore

"Thank you for your email.

I understand that you are experiencing the issue regarding high CPU temperature in your system.

I have reviewed your Ryzen master screen shot as I can see that you are noticing under idle condition temperature 35 degree Celsius with peak speed 430 mhz and in load condition temperature 70 degree Celsius with peak speed 3924 mhz

It is expected behaviour of Ryzen 9 5950x And maximum operating temperature of Ryzen 9 5950x is 90 degree Celsius "

I'm hitting 85 to 90c in R23 on a full 10 minute run, ~70c in games.

Its a 2 year old 120mm AIO, it ran the 3600 in the mid 60's while hardly even ramping up the fan, silence was golden, not so with the 5800X, i am surprised how much hotter they run but its an 8 core 16 thread CPU, time to get a proper cooler.....

Anyone running the Arctic Liquid Freezer II 240 or 280? I hear they are pretty good.

I've not issues with my Noctua D15s; but if you want an AIO better look up a few reviews. I dropped my Corsair H110i for the Noctua it was cooler and quieter.

Aren't those the ones with the internal gunk build-up?

Yeah they are crap. :)

Apparently this was the fixed version; can't imagine how they got to the claim of 300W TDP dissipation.

Overall, I get wanting that sleek AIO look. My system is more a workstation these days since I'm working from home; so the D15s has been grand.

Max temps in R23 is 62 at stock, and 78 degrees with PBO.

Gaming is actually hot for my, 68-73 at max spiked; most likely because of the 3090 pumping out the heat.

It’s normal try not to worry. I get a similar spike to 80c for less than a second when I play Far Cry 5 or even load up 3DMark sometimes. Generally though when playing most games temps are in the high 50s -low 70s.

Running a 5950X, PBO, 420MM AIO with the fans running at 1000RPM - silent.

If i ever manage to get hold of a 5900X i'm using my NH-D15, don't think i'll ever buy an aio as i don't trust them.

I feel the same way and will go with the NH-D15S if and when my launch day 5900X ever arrives. I had a Deepcool Captain 240 that decided to empty itself a few years ago. It cost me £1000+ to replace the damaged components. Never again will I use an AIO :(

The NH-D15 works great - I've got it on my 5900X (single fan) and I never go above 88 degrees whilst running Cinebench with an all-core 4.625GHz OC (not a very optimised overclock either, was only 15 minutes of work)

Just finished setting up my new case with the Crosshair VIII Dark Hero (3003) and the 5950X, stock settings apart from enabling XMP. My Cinebench R23 scores look to be about right seeing what's being posted here.

Single; 1644
Multi; 25598

**edit** removed screenshot, thought I was posting in benchmark thread.

Those are spot on.

Lucky bugger getting that new Dark Hero board, couldn't for the life of me find one. Ended up with the Strix-F

Im using an Artic Liquid Freezer II 420 on a 5900x.

Everythings default,

When running R23 Max Temp is between 49-51C @4199MHz
Idle is around 28-29C

Score was 21089
