Which Apple Watch Series 8 will you get?

My watch series 8 failed to fast charge on my iPad Pro official Apple 20W USB C charger today. Its always fast charged before. It charged to 100% slowly but frustratingly now I’ve got to wait until it depletes again to see if the issue persists.

I’ve since updated to watchOS 9.2 and put 16.2 on the iPad and iPhone.

Yeah I am very tempted.
I would have but local Apple store didn’t have stock. Regarding my watch series 8 fast charge problem I can always try charging it off the USB C port on my PC if it fails to fast charge after 45 minutes next time. PC should also fast charge it possibly to see if it’s the charger.

Well it fast charged this morning. Great!

Looking at upgrading my Xiaomi Mi Band 4 (don't laugh :p ) to an Apple Watch SE. I swim once or twice a week, and run once or twice a week depending on mood and if I'm working in the office or not. I also cycle occasionally but nothing serious. I really want GPS tracking but beyond that I'm not hugely bothered about extended functionality. I guess the usual phone-extension abilities like read/replying to messages, controlling music (might be handy around the house actually, would it work with Spotify via Google Home speakers?) etc. One thing I can't find out is do I need to subscribe to Apple Fitness to use it as my go-to fitness app to track the aforementioned activities?

I'm a bit worried about battery life though. My friend says he only gets a day out of his which sounds pretty poor, he does have heart monitoring on all the time though. What do people get with normal usage? Or do you just accept the fact it needs charging every night and buy one of those magsafe stands?

How well does the Do Not Disturb mirroring work? One thing that annoys me is having to remember to separately turn on DND on my Xiaomi band and my phone before bed etc.

Also, how do the cellular models work? I have a corporate Vodafone iPhone 13 from work, are they likely to have this enabled? Or do you need a separate contract/sim etc?

Nope, Apple Fitness+ simply enables instructor led video classes.

Apple Watch has been a daily charge kinda device since it's inception. If sleep tracking isn't important just put it on the charger before bed. If you track sleep, just charge while you're getting ready in the morning.

Perfection.

You need a separate add-on subscription. It allows you to leave your phone at home and still have data and cellular connection.

My Series 5 when new used to get just under 2 days battery. The reality is I don't use the sleep tracking stuff and we have a 9 month old so silent wrist alarms in the morning isn't a requirement anymore. It's down to ~85 % now and it'll do 18 hours I think before dying.

If you are really bothered about battery life but want an Apple Watch, then look at the Ultra but it is pricy.

I had a quick comparison but I don’t think the 7 is for me. I don’t need the ECG or blood oxygen stuff, it only comes in 44mm+ (skinny wrists mean I’m much more suited to 40mm) and anyways the SE 2022 has the newer chip right?

I went to the Apple Store today and tried it on, I just can’t decide if I want silver or starlight. I think starlight is a bit of a girly (rose?) colour but my girlfriend seems to think it’s nicer than the silver. I think black looks a bit cheap actually.

If you are a man id still recommend the bigger watch, even with skinny wrists.

I also have tiny wrists and when I tried the smaller watch it looked small and like a ladies watch (it is).

The S7 and the new S8 basically have the same chip, the differences are outside the CPU performance.
