The obvious difference between a phone and the watch is that the watch, being strapped to your wrist just isn't a device that is likely to get dropped, if it all.

People put cases on their phones because they are one unlucky drop from a £600 bill, not because they can get scuffed up. I can't say I have ever dropped my watch, I have dropped my phone plenty of times.

Looks like I really didn't need to put a glass screen protector on the Ultra after watching that video ;)

Really impressed with the battery life so far, the watch was at 100% when I put it on Saturday night took the watch off last night and the battery was at 60%, sleep mode was active overnight on Saturday/Sunday plus the display was on all day yesterday.

Got used to the Alpine band now, it's a knack to take the watch on and off.

Not bad at all its a keeper for me :)

Cheers all

Just got email from Vodafone saying mine is delayed. I knew it.

Are Apple offering 0% on these if you go and buy one in store?

Enjoying my Ultra so far. Being a big guy the size actually works better for me coming from my 45mm series 7.

Is there a list of features that are unique to the ultra (excluding extreme sports related stuff)? If not then no worries, but just wanted to clarify beyond the videos posted.

I've never dropped my watch but I catch it on things all the time and work in some pretty ****** dusty environments so watch goes in a protector just to be safe.

Few days with my 8 and pretty mixed feelings so far.

It's my first smart watch and I was expecting to be blown away with the features and to be disappointed with the battery. I'm currently sat at 70% after charging it until 11PM last night and I'm amazed how well it's holding up but after checking my sleep pattern and vitals, over the first 24 hours, I barely looked at it today and I'm already thinking, is this it?

My Ultra has gone back. It's far too big and heavy for my use as well as being completely overkill, I would have never used any of the new features apart from the three day battery. The crown guard is great, when spending time with my children I used to trigger siri all the time but all that went away. On the other hand I ended up pressing the action button accidently instead - that needs a guard too.

Mine has arrived. It's not as bulbous or ugly as I was worried it might be. Definitely looks rugged but not in a tacky way.

The S6/7/8 definitely look much more stylish though. If I didn't do a lot of endurance running and hiking holidays I think I'd stick to a slimmer model.

I thought they were saying 36 hours.

Depends on your usage, I have no issues getting 2.5 to 3 days on the ultra with my usage and all features turned on as well as the AOD. Even on the regular series watches 24hrs to 30hrs was my usual battery life before I had to recharge it.

My typical usage is not that demanding, using iMessage, email, package tracking, weather updates, sleep tracking and using the home app to control my lights. My phone is normally in range of the watch 99% of the time so the watch isn't going to be using the cellular connection that often which does drain the battery pretty quick.

Really tempted to get the ultra and give my series 5 to my wife. But looking at videos and pictures it’s quite big.

Think I’ll have to pop into an Apple Store sometime next week and see just how big they are. I have small skinny wrists so even my 44mm series 5 is kinda big but overtly big.
