Is it possible to upgrade RAM & storage? Or are both non upgradable? I should think 512MB RAM and 4GB is plenty for a stripped down version of Linux?

Intrerested in a EEE for slimserver controller. I'd like a touchscreen as it's faster though, plus the keyboard for fast searching
 
They are upgradeable but unsure if its user upgradeable (i.e. void warranty). I believe it supports 1Gb RAM max, but the SSD should be whatever is out there...

The 8G version is effectively the 'upgraded' version it seems, memory wise...

You can replace the RAM upto 1gb very easily but it voids the warranty i.e. warrenty sticker is over the screws to the panel.

Internal SSD is apparently soldered to motherboard but you can jsut mount SD cards in the slot as a disk.

Im planning to get one in next week or so and my plan is to leavee the ram alone and use my creative zen 30gb as a USB disk as its always on me anyway.

a lot of people upgrade the storage in their mobile phone and then bluetooth it with a dongle to the eee ad this way you have more space on your phone and as its with you msot of the time you can access it on the eee.
 
I would hope/assume thats just the automated system acknowledging that the dates here and that the laptops have been delivered just not keyed into the inventory.

Worst comes to worst they may just arrive today into the warehouse - still means a delay before our doorsteps...

Now showing the 13th on the system - like ps3ud0 said it was probably an automated system based on the date showing over-due - hopefully.
 
Couldn't find anywhere else doing the black model... hope OCuk gets them in tomorrow as other places weren't even advertising them and suddenly have them in stock today ready for delivery tomorrow.
 
Wheres the fun in that? ;P

I'll prolly get the Merom powered one in due course and relegate the Eee to replace the laptop I'm using currently to power my NAS setup as it has 3 USB2.0 ports.

Don't know if to get one of these or not. I was thinking about getting a laptop over xmas maybe in the sales for about £200. Just for surfing the web round the house maybe thats all really. I wouldn't be taking it anywhere.

My mind is saying get a normal laptop at xmas but my heart is saying get the Eee. There soo cute and dinky.
 
Good Evening guys, Ordered one of these last week (in black)
Called up OcUK today asking whether they're being shipped today quoting the website's ETA as being today (12/11/2007), turns out OcUK are expecting them to be delivered to them tomorrow (13/11/2007), then they'll be shipped to us.

I know, I was disappointed too, still, hopefully will be shipped immediately tomorrow with next-day delivery or something to make up for the 1 day delay...

i ordered myself a black one yesterday (from a competitor - sorry ocuk, but they were in stock and ready to ship)
