***The Official Asus Eee PC Thread***

Unfortunatly pre-ordering with OCuk also involves paying the entire amount :| unfortunatly I've got quite a lot of money going out in the next few days so I can't just order elsewhere and wait a few days for the money to be refunded from OCuk.

If thats the price from a reputable seller then its great - with just so many fake cards available on the net which either declare to have 8GB storage, when they dont - or have inferior chips that dont actually hit 6MB/s its easy enough to get duped...

I cant find a decent make 8GB SDHC Class 6 for under £55 after having a look - just hope you havent been swindled...

Class 6 cards are a lot harder to find and vastly more expensive due to the speeds they run (compare a Sandisk SDHC Ultra2 to an Extreme 3)...

Doh - just saw Rroffs reply...

ps3ud0

8GB Kingston SD HC-SDHC High Speed Memory Card 8 G GB for £38

woot mines been shipped! thank goodness for that :) all is good again with the world

To me the black looks more business like the white more "life style" maybe a little more upmarket looking but at the same time imo it makes the plastic look cheaper :S so I guess it depends which you are...

I must resist buying one of these.

I would'nt really use it really, but Im trying not to get one because they are bloody cool.

Looking forward to see how someone off here thinks of it when they get it in thier hands.

i have my black one here. trying to get ubuntu on it and its driving me mad (bad disk / bad usb cd-rom drive).

having to try download the alternate ubuntu disk (e.g. not the live disk).

the black unit is exactly like a normal laptop matt black, e.g. not glossy nintendo ds / ps3. in fact the whole units looks exactly like a "ickle" laptop. no better no worse.

The White one looks very 'i gadget' which is ok in the short term but might be a bit meh in a a couple of years, thats what I like about the IBM laptops they keep a smart but unfashionable look, I think White tech is tomorrow's crystal cased Macs, so probably a Black one for me.
