***The Official Asus Eee PC Thread***

Is it possible to save temp folder to a SD card? That way not wearing out write cycles on the built-in memory. I would think if you do a lot of web browsing it would be handy.

Are you using the wiki guide from eee users forum ?

http://wiki.eeeuser.com/ubuntu

yes i am. its not a technical issue (e.g. wireless, etc) either it just stops on boot up or gives me a read error when its copying files. i am on my third download now. funny thing is the restore cd works fine, so i am guessing my usb cdrom doesnt like the blank cds i am using. pcs - dont you love em?

i was hoping to try and avoid the process of creating a bootable ubuntu install usb stick/sd card, but i think it may be inevitable...

Well my optimism for it arriving today, even though city link says it will is dwindleing :( really wanted to play with it tonight :(

Well 5 mins after i posted this, it arrived, but by some strange looking bloke and the box was quite batterred, against my better judgement I opened it and everything was 100% ok inside posting using it now :D
edit: my god it has tetris!
few pics, to its right is a 22" screen and to the left is a 19". in front is an average size keyboard and even my g5 seems big in comparison, but i'm slowly getting used to the size of the keyboard

apologies for the messy desk, its lab report week :(

Loving mine so far... the default linux install has taken just about everything I can throw at it - shame that I need win32 for a few apps so I'll have to get another card or external HDD for installing windows XP on it - but I'll deffinatly be dual booting...

The sound hardware is also pretty impressive for an integrated solution, let alone a cheap integrated solution.

According to Engadget, via some German site, the 10 inch version is confirmed for next year sometime.

yep and if its not too expensive, I'll probably get one of those, I'm in no rush as my pda seems to be getting a second wind after finding some choice programs :D

Mine arived, its everything I hoped it would be. The screen is really nice, no ghosting at all. I was also impressed with the codec support right out the box, played a 680meg divx video from a flash usb drive no problems.

first thing I did was, played with mr Potato head app!

Next thing was to authorise the eecpcs mac address for use on the router. I dont think I will put XP on it though. All the stuff I need are already on here, ready to go.
