I have Just built my new setup from O/C and it runs superb at standard settings. I have been Playing around with Overclocking it mainly trying to get the Cpu to run @ 3ghz but it just wont have it. Anything over 2.8 and the system will just hang....
There are loads of settings in the bios that i,m not familiar with so i,m probarbly doing it wrong. I set the board @ 9x333 all voltages at standard but upon re-start the pc freezes on the post screen..

Can anyone give me any advice it would be much appreciated, I havent played with voltages yet as i,m new to this i dont want to be cooking the Cpu. Although i have read that 3ghz should be easily atainable at stock voltages.?

3GHz should be pretty simple. You might need to change your RAM ratio - set it to the 533MHz option which will be the 1:1 ratio and see how that goes.

Hi Guys,

Have just bought a E6600 and Asus P5W DH Deluxe from a guy off of another overclocking forum. He currently runs the chip on water and benches @ between 3.8 and 3.915 Ghz however runs the system 24/7 @ 3.6 (400x9).

I don’t know a great deal about his water cooling setup (i.e. how good it is, I'll find out later) but he tells me the chip idles at 33deg C and his room temperature is pretty hot.

I'm hoping to run the chip @ 400x9 without going down the air route, eventually I'll get the Titan Vanessa/Amanda (which ever is the TEC one) if I need to, but until its available (should I need to even get it) I'm after some solid advice for what HSF to get, ideally to run the chip at 3.6Ghz.

Does anyone think I'm expecting too much from air on a proven chip like this?

Thanks in advanced for any advice!

Just tried that but it still wont post, If i set the Memory to ddr800 it also wont post which is strange seeing as it is supposed to be DDR800. The max it will go is 667...

I,m wondering if my memory is Dodgy..Or not quite what it says it is.

A guy from an overclocking forum who quotes you the idle temperature? Not very useful information at all! You need to know the load temperatures as well!!!! As to what you might get with air, it's impossible to predict. You tell us.

Don't bother with the TEC widget. Get a decent 120mm heatpipe jobby like the Tuniq Tower.

I've got the Zalman for now as nothing else was in stock, whats wrong with the TEC though, seems to be getting some good reviews when used on a chip hitting 40deg+

The problem with tec's are that a good watercooling system is recommended to remove the heat a tec produces, which begs the question of why not just watercool the cpu in the first place ;)

Finished setting up my new WC loop with DDC alphacool top(thks Jellybeard).

Ambient temp = 16c
