So can you be a hammerdin in this one? :D
Still playing Diablo 2, can't wait for this one.

Any idea when the beta will be available?

I think the Beta is out now.

I dont know if they are releasing beta keys in drip feed fashion. I hope they are, because that gives me some small hope that I may get one.

Yeah those must be Friends and Family. If you check the official forums there is no mention of anyone getting public beta keys. As soon as the public keys start going out you will see a hundred threads along the lines of "OMG I GOT A KEY11!!" and "CAN I HAZ KEY PLZ11!"

I'd never heard of a monk in Diablo1... did some Googling, and it turns out D1 had an expansion? I'd never heard of it! Not made by Blizzard tho, and not canon, so I probably won't rush out and get it :p

Was made by Sierra, added a handful of new spells, two new big bosses, a place where you could trade gear between characters (got messerschmid's reaver on your rogue? Np. drop it at the cornerstone of the world and your warrior will find it waiting for him there), lots of new monsters, officially added the monk class but the bard and barbarian classes (along with two extra quests) could be unlocked by creating a notepad file with some commands. All in all I found it great fun all those years back.

Blizzard said the maximum level will be 60? Won't it be 99 as it was in Diablo 2&1?

Not for the time being. Level 60 is maximum at which point you get access to extra hard mode (Inferno difficulty I belive it's called).

I think they'll be more likely to raise the level cap with the expansions or new content like WoW/Borderlands etc.

That way people that get to 60 in the time before new content will be able to get a challenge out of it.

As mentioned before, they'll rely on keeping people occupied with inferno difficulty once everyone gets to 60. And then there is the arena pvp side of the game.

Lots of talk beta would drop last week but that never happened. Though seems very likely this week. Wednesday being the day.

There will be beta keys, it will be exactly the same as in SC2. Anyhow if people cant wait for a beta key they managed to partially crack the game. It can only go into town though

Beta has started!

The fiery gates leading to the Burning Hells have begun to swing open, and the Diablo III beta test is officially underway. Invitations to participate in the beta test are now being delivered to the chosen heroes. As with beta tests for other Blizzard Entertainment games, the testing process for Diablo III will occur in phases. In addition to selecting players who have opted in via their Battle.net accounts, we’ll also be providing keys through beta promotions and giveaways -- stay tuned for more info. We welcome those invited to provide feedback or report bugs on the official forums.

If you have a beta license, you are free to show, share, or talk about any portion of the beta content to which you have access, as this beta test is not confidential.

We’d like to remind those looking forward to an invite to be wary of phishing attempts. If you believe you’ve received an invite to the Diablo III beta test, it’s best to refrain from clicking on any links in the email, and instead log in to your Battle.net account to see if a Diablo III beta game account was granted. Or, if you were sent a key, attempt to add it manually by going to the Add or Upgrade a Game section of the Battle.net account management page.

For those who have received an invite to the beta test, we thank you for helping us test out our server stability and hardware. For those of you still hoping for an invite, we wish you the best of luck and hope you’ll keep an eye out for some of the beta-key giveaways and promotions we’ll have right here on the Diablo III community site.
