Sometimes you wonder about why they even spent time on a thing such as the new indentification process. What's the point in having an infinite, any time use identify?
Like scrolls wasn't easy enough, why even have it any more? Just have items drop as is!
But I guess all devs have the odd special case

Well in previous Diablo games there has been the uncertainty factor when you ID an item as to what the quality of the item will be. There was also a market for trading unidentified items for this reason.
Its all in the tone.
Someone looks/sounds happy and exclaims "he killed that track!" is very differant to somebody sounding sombre or annoyed saying "he killed that track...".
I must've forgotton to read the /tone tags...
And I have never heard anyone use that in a positive way.
Its still a generally accepted colloquialism, most people under or around 25 I imagine would completely understand the phrase.

Yeah, thats probably why I assumed killing it was a negative thing, I'm considerably beyond 25

In Diablo 2 unid items are worth more because it could be perfect.
I think it can only be played at 800x600 or 640x480.

If you sign into BNet I think there is a chance of being banned with the widescreen mod. Might wanna check that out.

It affects the game more than just giving you native res iirc.
Given that that the Battle.net stuff is competitive ladders/ranked, I'm not surprised it's banned.
Its because of the view range it gives you, especially for the Sorc and teleport.

Fair enough if it's a conscious balance choice then. I just assumed it was down to the (presumable) fact that it modified the .exe or injected something and hence it was hard to distinguish from some more dodgy kind of hack.
Surely you'd ID it then find out?

not always, things like Crown of Ages might go for more unidentified as the chance of good stats is worth more to people than one with average stats. its no different to gambling really, only the stakes are higher.
On some items, like the Annihilus, if the stats are low it's pretty worthless, but if the stats are perfect then its worth a ridiculous amount.
