Can someone explain to me what fun/point there would be in using map hacks/scripts/bots etc to play D2 these days?

Well lots of people used map hacks because it made doing baal/diablo/whatever runs so much fast as having an unexplored map every single game just made it tedious, and without enigma or some form of teleport it just made everything slow and boring, there was no fun in wasting so much time killing trash.

And some people used bots not to play the game for them but to just keep making and leaving games until I got onto a hot server in the hopes of fighting uber diablo, and this was because of the stupid way in which blizzard designed uber diablo meant that you had to use a bot or you most likely would never ever see uber diablo, even after many months of play.

Single Player + Open Battle.Net - single player characters online and offline

Closed Battle.Net - online only characters

Guess i only ever played on closed, never ever seen the ability to play a SP character on the online mode... weird. but to me that was for the best.

at least D3 should not have any closed off modes.

I played MP for the first time last night. It just shows the quests and how many people are playing each, and then you can click one and then "Join Game" and you just join a random game of people on that quest. There is no server browser, it's like Quickmatch.

I can't play D3 my game just freezes when I go in the inn at the first place to pick up a quest apparently there are loads of issues with 500 series cards and D3 ;/

I still play d2 and I used to use a maphack (lost it, must get another one!) because I know every act and quest inside out. I just use to because its slightly quicker really.

The other I use gives you a shared stash and increases the size of the inventory...again it just makes it less of a chore to play

Speaking of shared stash. Does anyone know of a replacement for ATMA? Last time I checked I don't think it worked properly on the latest patch. It was pretty much necessary for SP to be able to store decent gear and gems/runes and duplicate some of them for alternative characters (mimicking swapping them without actually wasting time doing it).

Maphack always had a use. Having 3 accounts+ to rush or MF/GF the hard way was dull after years of play. Although most the time you knew map layouts after years of play.

People still use bots for what Dist said. Tie this with I think was a packet sniffer and you can track SoJ's sold across servers (not games) with multiple bots - not sure how this worked, never used it myself. I found Diablo clone the hard way with lots of repetitive play over years :D

Still lots of bots for CS runs (if you're D2C imagine same on LoD) around and some for private games. Few people use bots at the beginning of ladder seasons for #1 or to sell their characters on jsp, sell for fg and then sell fg over Paypal for £.

If anyone is thinking about pre-ordering with Tesco they've got a code for £15+ spends on.

Still can't decide whether to get this straight away or not! :(
Mainly because I can't decide between a Wizard or Demon Hunter :p
Does anyone from the beta know if the Demon Hunter class is on par with the wizard as I heard it was pretty over powered.

Also whats the map layout for this game like? Is it linear but free to explore with a hub (like dark souls for those who have played it :)) or is it more just going through corridors then sorting out gear at the end of each one?

I don't think anyones going to know the answer to that, the beta is the first 30 minutes of the game, so it's like levelling from 1-8 in wow and asking is a mage overpowered at 85.
