*** The Official Elite: Dangerous Thread ***

Help guys, I've just got the game, and the first tutorial where you have to destroy the cannisters is impossible.

I have only managed to destroy one, and that seems to have been lucky as every other time I'm trying to destroy them, the bullets don't seem to hit it, no matter how close I am to the target (the bullets definitely look like they're hitting dead centre, but there's no sparks and it doesn't get destroyed).

Is the game malfunctioning, or is there some obvious thing I am missing?

Thanks for the help, looking forward to playing the game

Been there done that

I hope nobody will tell you, you'll be a better man if you find it out yourslef :D

protip: there is no spoon

Also, the tutorials aren't probably the bst way to learn how to Elite. Just hop in, choose solo for a first try, learn how to maneuver the ship, how to lock destinations and warp there, hyperjump, dock. Then start missioning, trading or bounty hunting in NAV or USS....

Just don't waste time with powerplay, imho.

Another 90 min semi AFK RES session for just over 3mill.... the vulture just BBQs everthing, with very little even getting a shot on you.

I fight most the bigger ships at no more than 250m range... all they can do is sit there spin round lots and die.

One weird thing happened... ships at RES never attack you first, but I was busy fixing kids dinners and hear 'shields offline' and some Cobra NPC had attacked me for no reason.

Yes, yes they do. If you have anything in your hold they want they will attack, if you aggravate one of the factions enough to become shoot on sight they will most certainly attack, just because they haven't up until then doesn't mean they can't or wont.

Sooo

Back into Elite again

Seems the bounty system has changed.

I have had my 200 credit bounty wanted status removed but am I right in thinking that as its now dormant... I cant return to the system for another 6 days as it will become active again if scanned??

It will stay dormant until you pay it or are scanned I think, you should be fine to jump back in and go pay it, outposts are less likely to get you scanned on the way in though.

Obviously wouldn't work for interdictions and other unplanned exits but they are not frequent.
Stay away from me if you have a bounty, then...
Best time to interdict another ship is when they're slowing right down on approach to a target destination!! :)

Nvidia is just fine for me and everybody else i know running one, overhearing maybe?
Yeah, my PC overhears me a lot - I wouldn't mind, but it then uses what it overhears against me! :D
Nvidia working fine here too, by the way.

Ohhh a vulture is only 5 mill ish :D Ill save a bit more then so i can afford to decent spec it.
Mine is fairly highly specced and the sale price offered is about 12mil, so expect something like that if you want to go to town on yours.

Gonna try a Vulture now, picked one up from Sol,Gorbachev...

You will love the Vulture, fit two gimballed large pulse lasers and BBQ everything

I'm at a loss... I have approx 15mill in the Vulture, everything I can A rated. high density RES are just stupid easy. 10 mill in the bank.

What to do next ?, I like combat.... want to make money quicker

Whats my next money making route ? (given a RES can turn 2-3mill per hour)

High intensity combat zones? Some of the strong signal sources are fun too...

Pirate missions? Or go for a the big 50,000,000 payout for rank 5 in power play. Interdict enemy power players in their own systems and get 10,000 points. Plus if you do make it, due to losing half you points at the end of the week you will only have to make 5000 points to get the big payout again. Easy money.

Or take a break from combat and save up for a Type 7 and do some trading, or go exploring. :D

Any of you guys play in a guild or large group in private play/online? Generally just going out and having a bit of fun as a wing/group?

I stopped playing just after PP and I am struggling to get back into it for some reason.

Spec me a Fighter and some experience

I've been in and out of ED for the last few months, but have recently been Exploring in my Cobra. I'm ready to move onto my next ship for exploring (a DBX) but need some cash to fully equip it for exploring.

I'd like to try out fighters and combat, but need a reliable ship to get me the cash. Are there any recommended fun builds from the ships I can afford:

  • Sidewinder
  • Eagle
  • Viper

I've got about 2 Million credits to spend.

All I can say is I had most of my fun and made most of my credits in a Viper playing combat at the start. It sounds epic, Is nice and quick and turns great. You can have some quite nice load outs on it, I used to run with 2x beams and 2x multi cannons which was great to get a ships shields down and damage to hull nice and quick. Things might of changed now though :D
