I use a Cobra mk3 with 2x beam lasers and 2x Multi-cannons. Works well although the beam lasers need careful management. Rips through most low level ships in a single pass.

OK, Viper it is. Just need a decent build...

Here's a quick viper loadout just worked out with fixed pulse. Was not much of a fan of gimballed weps on the viper for some reason.

Has a bit of extra shield boosting, class B shield cell, FSD interdictor, chaff launcher and fuel scoop - so a bit of utility to it. You will need some smart power management for a Viper they are a bit low on power.

I wish it to be known that the Fuel Rats are GODS among Men. Very friendly and helpful, apparently I was 'quite a way out' when I ran out of fuel but THREE of them flew thousands of ls to get to me. It may have been in vain but they tried their damnedest.

what's the best way to make money these days? just reinstalling for a quick blast.. I have about 400Mcr to my name, but I haven't played since about March, are people still nailing the luxuries lol? or is it bounty hunting?

Short-hop trading in a BIG-ass freighter, generally. So long as you have a decent route, you can make a consistent few mil per hour easy enough. Outside of that, probably RES-farming, assuming you get enough high value targets each time.

Haven't played since launch so fired it up over the weekend to check out powerplay and the new ships. I didn't get far after launch really, made enough to get into a viper and got it kitted out with C grade stuff mostly with my combat rank just about at novice. Nothing but a small timer with no cash to my name.

Took my viper out to a high intensity RES and made 100k in about 30 mins! (massive buff on what you used to make). After that i sold the viper and bought a diamondback scout, pledged for one of the powers and made enough powerplay credits to get into the 5 million bracket in a couple of hours. Bloody easy money! Doubt i'll have the time left this week to do the full 10k credits for 50 million but next week it should be easy!

The diamondback scout is fantastic too. Like it much more then the viper

Screeeech - Smuggling Imperial Slaves from a power that sells them cheap (Torval) and smuggling to a place that gives higher returns on smuggling (Archon Delaine)

4k per tonne profit.

Hmm that sounds interesting....400 tons in an anaconda = nice profit plus the excitement of interdiction or messing up the docking, still can't dock the anaconda and I haven't played in a couple of months so going to be even more challenging getting in unscanned
I wonder how much the fine would be on that little lot if I get it wrong

Whats the distance between factions? I take it a big scoop is going to be needed?

In a 452 Tonne 'conda can do it in a few jumps - Fuel is cheap now, just buy it. No point in scoop now unless going long distance.

Use heatsinks to avoid being scanned, pop them at about 25% heat.
Come in quick, scrape your head off the entrance & should be dandy.

I started hitting RES with my new Vulture last night, got 300k in about 20 minutes, was pretty quiet though..
Still, It'll pay for some upgrades....

You'll tire of the Vulture eventually. I binned mine because as far as PVE goes, it's pretty much God mode. It's only when you're dealing with multiples that it can get a little hairy, which in a typical RES is limited to 3.

Bang a couple of gimballed pulse lasers on it, and you'll wreck anything. As much as you'll think gimballed isn't the best and you should go with fixed, trust me - it means you can sit head on with large ships, target the power plant and use your side and vertical thrusters to strafe off axis whilst yawing toward them. Their weapons will either not track you so well, or you'll be able to dodge fixed weapons, all whilst your gimbals are nailing them off axis. Anything which does manage to hit you won't be anything to worry about given how tough your shields are.

I'm up to about 12,000,000 credits in fines for smuggling slaves in the Conda so far, just have to make sure I don't die in the near future and want to rebuy it :) All being well just going to wait the week out for the fines to fizzle out.

Was sure I'd seen five the other day... In fact, I know I did. Bunch of Eagles, IIRC.
I always thought everything scales up with your combat ranking?

Again, beg to differ - NPC Python packing three large Plasma Accelerators, bang bang bang, OMG where's my windscreen gone, boost boost BOOOOOST!!!

I switched to my own Python and copied the setup just to see if it was any good, and... HO-LEE BALLS!!!
No use for serious piloting as you burn out your batteries frighteningly quick, but brilliant fun if you've got your target squarely nailed and just fancy wiping something huge out before they even realise you're attacking!

Aye thats the plan until I save up for something else, just not sure what yet... :/
Python!!! :D
Actually, the Asp is pretty darn good all-round. Below Master rank, the NPCs you encounter will just be melted by a good Asp outfit.

Note I said typical. Not all. Typical RES will have up to 3 hostile ships in one area at a time. Get a good instance and you'll see more. Become hostile to a local faction and you'll definitely see more.

And again you're not quite understanding what I'm getting at. If you're side/vertical thrusting in a Vulture, staying off the centre axis/boresight of your foe, then weapons in a fixed variety (especially PA's) aren't going to hit you, unless you are point blank. The only things which will hit you are gimballed/turreted stuff, which you CAN tank in the Vulture and confuse with chaff assuming you're packing a half decent build.
