Something like the Thrustmaster T-Flight HOTAS is more my budget, I do love the look of that Warthog though!
Save up and get a top end one.
I thought I'd only ever need the FLY5... When it became apparent I'd be playing this for years to come and that having every control at my fingertips made for a much better experience, I started putting the pennies away.
I was just fortunate that I got to try a lot of different sticks at friends' places first.
Ohhhhhhh no you don't.......
Ahh yes imagination. Dont have X type of content no worries boys thats what your imagination is for!
Everyone keeps saying that, but no-one ever comes up with what it should have... unless it's, "Make it like Eve Online"!
This isnt 1984 i dont think we should using the original Elite on the BBC Micro as the yardstick that Elite Dangerous should measure up to...this is 2015 after all.
So what should it be?
Rich Solo campaign like Sqn 42?
400 billion systems worth of narrative, unique to every one of the myriad players?
Full-on MMO stuff?
For the record, those MMOs I have played were pretty much the same - Go here, fight this, go there, fight that, bit of story text fluff to make it seem like you're doing the same few missions over and over... rinse, repeat, pay subs, repeat.
We should be comparing it with other open world games...the Witcher 3, GTA V, Skyrim, Red Dead Redemption, the X series of space sims.
All of which are pretty tiny, aren't they?
ED is just the base platform and already it has a massive load of stuff over and above all those. It takes time to get 400 billion versions of things all set up. We have this very basic version because we wanted ED now.
So how do you think it compares to those games?
I tried getting into The Witcher but got bored. I did just about everything in Skyrim in under 160 hours. Not played the others.
By comparison, I've got a good 1,300 hours plus on just ED so far.
Except that Elite is nothing like WoW or Eve or just about any genuine MMO out there.
Well DUHHHHH.... Elite is not an MMO.
It may have an online multiplayer aspect, but it is not an MMO.
PLENTY of other, non-MMO games also have expansions. Look at X-Plane, for example. Same thing there. Isn't there a half-hour long add-on for the latest Metal Gear costing something like £45, anyway?
If you want i could start listing very basic MMO features that just about all MMOs have but Elite doesnt.
Knock yourself out.....
