*** The Official Elite: Dangerous Thread ***

I have a Saitek x52 which I got on release way before Mad Catz and now Logitech.
The only issue I have with it after all these years is a little drift on the mouse nipple which is sorted out with deadzones.

I can't see me using anything else TBH. It works perfectly as HOTAS and the only thing I use on my keyboard outside of supercruise and maps are some Macros I have set up for comms requests and shield booster/heat sync combos etc.

This is what I've just ordered 1 left and 1 right handed stick from VKB Europe, these come as 1 unit so no extra base to buy, its their entry level to mid tier sticks, but supposedly far better than the x52/t1600 type of sticks for precision and build quality.

Im moving from t1600 dual sticks to these VKB`s cant wait, they cost me £252.22 GBP for the air lift which means they get here much quicker, you then have to pay import fees which were £60 as well so all in 2 sticks were £315.
Was the ordering process pretty straightforward from VKB Europe? I've been considering grabbing one of their sticks as I want something better than what I have, without stretching as far as the Virpils cost. I'm wary of the import fees and so on being a pain in the rear. That price sounds great if it's for a pair of sticks? I can only see the option for one stick at a time, which looks like 185 Euro (£160) per stick before import fees - or even more pricy if you chose the air lift option.

The price was for 2 of those sticks i added a left and a right hand one to the basket then ordered both at the same time, paid via paypal debit card and the price converted was £252.22 for 2 sticks. I ordered these yesterday morning and by the afternoon they had already shipped.
This morning i got email from UPS requesting payment for the import fees of of £60 so all together ive paid £315 for 2 sticks airlifted to the UK. Order was very straight forward.

I bought the standard version not the premium, there is an option to buy the premium upgrade at a later date if i feel i need the extra hat etc.

This is the exact place i bought it from which are - €131.40 incl VAT for EU only

My VKB Gladiator K was on China Express airlift delivery, it cost a bit more but the Euro stock was unavailable (during 1st lockdown everything seemed sold out!), it was EUR 232 inc shipping and tax. Interested to see they are going to be selling throttles soon, definitely going to replace my T16000m throttle with one

Ah ok, forgot there was a premium and standard version. I'd forgotten about the VAT being included on the display prices too, so that was throwing off my quick maths.
I guess that £60 import fee is based on the cost you paid not a flat price right? So presumably half that for a single stick.

Tempted to go with a single Premium stick before some of my mates convince me to spend even more on a Virpil.

I'm currently working towards buying a Fleet Carrier, I've got a loooooong way to go unfortunately now that mining prices have taken a big nerf.

I've got like 5 ships randomly spotted throughout the galaxy and its a pain in the backside waiting to transfer them to my location.

If you are paying vat there should surely be no import fee from Europe?

If you're a UK trader and not registered for UK VAT you still have to pay the import VAT, but you will not be able to reclaim it.

Customs Duty
You’ll be charged Customs Duty on all goods sent from outside the UK (or the UK and the EU if you’re in Northern Ireland) if they’re either:

  • excise goods
  • worth more than £135
If you’re charged Customs Duty, you’ll need to pay it on both:

  • the price paid for the goods
  • postage, packaging and insurance

Does that mean if you'd bought 1 at a time, they'd be worth less than £135 in each instance, so wouldn't get charged customs duty?

having only just seen this info myself im left wondering the same thing, i could have maybe saved myself some monies - ouch!

They are out for delivery today so all in all its been 2 days from point of order to todays delivery

That £135 cut off is interesting. So a standard single stick would fall under that, but the premium wouldn't. I don't know if I'd want to go without the thumbstick, extra trigger, and the various tension springs.

I'm really not sure since the 135 euro price doesn't appear to include VAT, which you would need to pay still I believe?

I think I'm going crazy lol

if i load the flightsimcontrols.com in edge and select the standard left stick it shows as -
131.40 euros inc vat

But if i load the same page in Vivaldi the same stick shows as -
159.00 euros inc vat

I paid 278.31 euros including vat and the 15.50 euros shipping.

What am i missing??

ps. also chrome shows the higher price as well

Have you updated your shipping location in the other 2 yet? Need to go to checkout and set the correct location in checkout.

Checked out those sticks, would love to get one but at the moment I can't justify splashing out hundreds on a stick and throttle I'll only be using for one or two games. Think I'll grab the 'free' T.Flight HOTAS One I mentioned above.

Why... just why.... am I not able to fall in love with this game again....
Dug out my X56. Loaded it up... played the tutorials to get into the swing of things... gone into the game.... hanger... launch.... goto map... set destination to one of my ships....zzz (nodded off a little during FSD jump).....

I loaded up the tutorial to do a fight challenge....

Round.... and round... we circle each other... wheeeee.....

I feel I betrayed this game..... I still my founders edition badge and kit... but no matter what..... I cant get into it.....
:(
