I enjoyed my Eagle and indeed I still have it in some dockyard somewhere but I found my Cobra far better. Another hard point and much better upgrade availability as well. It's a very capable ship able to take most lower class ships with ease.
 
My Viper has
A turreted beam laser and a gimbled multi canon up top and 2 turreted multi cannons below

The beam laser will then almost constantly fire to bring down the shileds and then I can batter the hull with 3 multi cannons. Normally with only 2 maybe 3 clicks in WEP

But I do miss the agility of the Eagle.
 
Turrets have the worst damage and would waste A LOT of ammo using a MC as a turret.

As a Viper is very nimble, try Gimballed.

I do go through Ammo. I can hunt in HRES for about 30 mins before having to return to re-arm.

I'll swap them out and have a go.

That should also lower my power requirements?? Which should mean more i can add more Shield thingys

Anybody else had a play with the CQC beta yet? I'm liking it a fair bit, will certainly add to the content but I am at a loss as to why they have chosen to separate it in the main menu instead of just having it accessed in game via the navigation menu.

Also, my word, the absolute over the top response to an additional ranking icon being added is amazing, it's as if the word is ending lol.

Haven't tried CQC but would like to at some point.

@MatTheCat, we get you find the game boring sir, and some of us do tend to agree with your points. We don't need you coming in the thread to remind us and ruin it every few weeks though. Nothing wrong with you coming in to see if it has been changed, but there are ways of doing so without berating everyone with different views and going on at us that you find it boring so we should all find the game boring too.

Ive only quickly tried CQC (and died a lot) ive mainly been testing out the new mining changes, and boy im a happy miner now! Once the collector drones get fixed, mining is now a viable career path imo

ive toyed with the idea of these Does your turreted beam laser auto fire? Problem i have with that is a) power draw b) chance of hitting police/allied ships in heavy combat areas. One stray hit and you get a legion of police anacondas in your face no lol :p

Not had a stray yet..It does auto fire but only after I've targetted and shot at my target

If its your only laser then power draw is negligible. I cant remember where I bought it but its not available at my presetn home base but I'll be getting anther asap in order to blast the shields even quicker.

After changing the other guns to gimballed my DPS has gone waaaay up:D

But I like the Idea of the constant battering of shields the turreted beams allow

I would recommend getting to grips with the CH Control Manager and jigging things around a bit. Makes a huge difference when everything is exactly where you want it and responds how you want.

They've done this with all the Beta things so far. I'm guessing a different server or something Dev'ey like that.

No, Partially, Yes.
You have three modes - Forward Only, Target Only, Fire At Will.
FO has them behave like normal guns.
TO only fires when you target something and pull the trigger, but will then continue to fire until the thing dies or you lose range.
FAW shoots players called Will. Nah, it targets hostiles and auto-fires for you.

However, I only experimented with turrets and then abandoned them, as I prefer full control over my weaps. Couple of my wingmen use them quite successfully, though!

Problem i have with that is a) power draw b) chance of hitting police/allied ships in heavy combat areas. One stray hit and you get a legion of police anacondas in your face no lol :p

A) Set them up on one Fire Group and have another without them. When they overheat or use up too much power, just switch groups and let them cool down/recharge.

B) Chances are very low - This used to be a problem, so FD jigged the settings. You'd now purposely have to target them and pull the trigger.

It's actually a lot more than one stray hit, you just tend to only notice it when you cross the line that makes them hostile. Though if you have them targeted and hit them then they will immediately turn hostile with no leeway whatsoever.

As a still noobie to the game.

What's the best things to buy once I've got a few credits. I've got multi cannon gimballed on both front turrets. I have only 4t cargobay and nothing else.

Should I be looking at extra fuel tank (can that even be done?) so I can go further?
Are fuel/cargo scoops worth it?
How do I increase my cargo capacity?
