As a still noobie to the game.

What's the best things to buy once I've got a few credits. I've got multi cannon gimballed on both front turrets. I have only 4t cargobay and nothing else.

Should I be looking at extra fuel tank (can that even be done?) so I can go further?
Are fuel/cargo scoops worth it?
How do I increase my cargo capacity?

What do you want to do? That will have a large effect on what you should be looking at buying. Cargo space can be increased either by replacing other modules or replacing the current cargo racks with bigger ones as you generally find that what is fitted is 50% of maximum capacity.

this isn't an image per se. I left partial tags so the image location can be read. What is it you're trying to show as I still can't see it :( It's not a full .jpg location code.

It's odd, the image shows perfectly fine on my tablet and phone.

Apologies clearly something I did wrong. It's just me showing off my new CH Pro gear. I'm struggling to link directly and therefore be able to embed images. Direct link is:

Awesome - Great choice!!! ;)
I would recommend getting to grips with the CH Control Manager and jigging things around a bit. Makes a huge difference when everything is exactly where you want it and responds how you want.

I still need to install the software.

I had a comical first impression with the stick where I mapped Yaw and Pitch as digital controls. Struggled for a few minutes in the first combat tutorial not hitting a thing and starting to regret the purchase. Much better once I sorted that out...doh :D

The HOTAS on offer today is £120. Seems a lot of cash to take the plunge to buy, for realistically 1 game (elite). Hate this feeling of wanting to buy but can't justify it.

I struggled to justify even £30 odd on the Thrustmaster T.Flight HOTAS X, but after getting that last weekend it made me realise just how much better the game is with a HOTAS and then went and spent stupid amounts on the CH Pro Fighterstick and Throttle. I used to own the Saitek X36 years ago so not sure why I was so hesitant.

I would definitely recommend the T.Flight as a budget option though. The T.16000M is probably the budget stick to own and is better but the HOTAS is so much fun. The T.Flight is easily good enough for the game and improves it so much over a joypad or KB&M.

Ok, am a little confused. Popped into a Federation system with a high and low conflict zone for a bit of a blast. In both zones the ships on both sides weren't fighting but just flying around in one large formation. Whilst lovely to watch (for a minute) I was expecting my conflict zone to have a bit more.... you know.... conflict!

Are they bust at the moment or did I just run into a glitch of some sort.

Not that I know of, more likely you just happened to time it while nobody was engaged. Sure if you had waited around for a bit things would have kicked off.

Got this game last night... What a learning curve!

So far managed to take off to find some fuit and veg for someone off a BB managed to jumped to a random system, came across someone with a bounty, killed them, jumped back to the system I started in (lsh3447), super cruised for about 10 minuets to end up where I actually wanted to go, almost flew into the station, figured out how to request a landing, landed with gear up, finally landed and claimed bounty.... Still haven't got a ******* clue where to get fruit and veg from!

Couple of questions, what does it mean when it pops up discovered planetary body or something like that, and are ships labeled lawless a threat?

I'm enjoying it so far, the pacing reminds me of the X series which is no bad thing, like to be able to chill and game some times :D

Haha, that was me a few days ago. VERY similar even now. As in what am I doing? where do I have to go? how the F do I do that?? :D :D

I found playing the SOLO option is good that way you don't have gits looking for noobs like us to simply kill because they can.

Great game, been watching 'Londongaming4fun' aka 'Andy' on Twitch for a while now.

Check him out if you haven't seen him play before. Might get you hooked on the game.

I've spent the day between Eravate, LTT 9810 and Altair looking for bad chaps (ToC spreading some Light) to make up for how bad i've been recently.

Well I've now overpowered my Viper so have to turn stuff off when hardpoints are deployed. But 2 turreted beam lasers and 2 gimbled Multi cannons and I can earn over 700k before returning to rearm. I likey a lot.

I like the way the turrets will keep attacking the shields even when the target ship is high and behind me, and I'm struggling to ge back round on him.

Would appreciate a little advice...

I have been running Federal missions, specifically smuggling illegal goods, to try and trigger some Federal Navy rank progression missions. For the first time en-route to my station I was interdicted by Fed security forces, so I submitted then boosted away and re-entered hyperspace to lose them. Now whenever I drop out into the system I am attacked by security services and although I haven't tried I'm guessing I won't be permitted to dock at my station.

Basically is my mission fubar now? With no way to drop the goods at the destination is my only choice to dump the goods in space and take a reputation hit on failing the mission?

If you find a Hi-Tech system you should be able to get a better Reactor. I think mine does around 14.3MW.

Should only be a fine unless you've killed them or done something else, what does it say in the transactions panel? Also, check what it says where your fuel gauge is, if it doesn't say wanted you should be okay. Might be best to jump out of the system and back in to see if that helps.

That pretty much worked, thanks. I jumped elsewhere then logged for a break, when coming back I was ok jumping back to my destination and dock ok. I think not firing on the Fed forces helped as my status panel just reported "Illicit cargo" rather than "Wanted", otherwise I might have had a problem.
