mechanically it's still the same however engineering has been VASTLY accelerated and basic thargoid fighting gear is now sold for (cheap) credits so it's much simpler to get to what you want to do.
the thargoid stuff is enjoyable if you have never done that before because of the material gathering

in system travel is now significantly faster if you buy an SCO drive and the new ships are specced to use an SCO drive so run even better still.

Ah interesting... that sounds better and i haven't done any thargoid stuff so there's a good reason for me to install it again.

Thanks :)

I still hanker for the old days when we had just one system to pootle about in, doing trading and using those OP short range shotgun like weapons..

The is also a problem with playing a multiplayer game for its multiplayer aspect and its as big as ED is, its not really a multiplayer game in any practical sense, with some exceptions the chances of you running in to another real player are a billion to one.

Until you want to start engineering stuff or joining in with community goals and then they are pretty much guaranteed to happen and be a net negative on your game. Remember kids, don't fly to engineer bases in open.

I've played for a bit in VR on the quest 3. It's all right, but as I like to also do the on foot bit when I occasionally play then I don't bother with the VR.

After an 18 month break broke out the hotas to save Sol. After an hour of two of trying to remember how what where & why I started to make progress. Though my Fleet Carrier got repossessed :) No loss only ever used it to park my ships/modules at, didnt even make a single jump with it.

My Krait MkII has passenger cabins fitted so I used that to help with the evacuation. The interdictions feel a lot harder to escape from this time round but I only lost passengers to the Thargs the first run.

No idea what the current meta is for AXI but come next week I'll be stomping bugs assuming the Sol invasion actually happens.

Can you imagine being a passenger on a ship not being able to help when it gets attacked? Perhaps sleeping in a bunk when the alerts start blaring over the loud speakers. The sudden g-forces pushing you against every wall.

Yeah it would be a terror run, though thankfully a pretty quick event.

Not sure about the g forces. Pretty sure the tech used in ED negates acceleration otherwise the pilot would be turned to mist on every flight.

I seem to remember FD answering questions about G forces in the early days, stating that they’d calculated them and don’t exceed 1G.

I can’t say that I’m convinced as 400ms equates to roughly Mach 1 at sea level, and with the pitch rate, I think that some would outrate a jet fighter

Maybe when in combat or landing/taking off but when in deep space using the Frame shift drive the accelerations are huge, millions/billions/trillions of g
