The *Official* Eve Online Thread

gnosis (spelling) might be good for exploration as well if I remember correctly

Just dabbling in this again myself, melted down the character I was training for a titan for some isk as I was never going to get into it that big again, so just my main and my market character left now. I have a lot of assets to flog but once they are all gone I will be able to pvp to my hearts content without worrying about isk for quite sometime.

Awesome Abaddon model. It lights up too.

I need an active no BS corp to really get back into eve, but it feels like 10,000 new corps are set up daily to scam

I tried looking for some decent highsec corps just to chill in and get a grasp of all the changes. Had about 10 offers of which 9 were all nullsec... Just in my own corp now to avoid tax but that hasnt really helped much with learning the new parts of the game.

Just re-subbed after a break playing other things. I'm in a low sec alliance and people i talk to cant really catch me up on the whats up. Too busy with their heads in rocks and anoms.

I've looked around the dotlan maps, when I left the south east looked way different, the goonies had no space (dead) and now they have half of delve? Lots of drone stuff going on too, can someone catch me up!?

I went to a market hub yesterday with all my loot to sell. Previously I could right click and sell the lot (yes, some would be well below market rate, I don't care) but something has changed and because I have no additional trade skills, I can only sell five items at a time. The item stacks could be huge but that doesn't matter, still only five different items at once.

This sucks. I can't find the change documented anywhere but the bottom line is that it's now practically impossible to sell a bunch of items quickly without selecting five at a time, selling them like that. When I've got many hundreds of different loot items, I just want to dump them as quickly as possible.

Stick it up as a contact with min price as auction it will probably sell if people are living in that space still

I guess they had to after dropping so many active accounts with changes that impacted people heavily invested in multiboxing :S

EDIT; Wonder how it handles people logged off in capitals and super capitals if they log in with a clone in alpha state :S (ah that is addressed further down the dev blog - kind of sucks for people who are logged off in high end ships who want to check stuff out again, etc.).

sweet! maybe it's time to jump back in. I wonder if my character is still alive... last logged in around 2009!

Likewise! Last I remember I had just bought and fitted out a rather expensive Gallente ship worth a couple of billion!

Fairly sure that won't be covered under Alpha...ehem. But still, be nice to fly around again. I imagine their plan is to coax a lot of people back to the game to get them interested enough to want to re-sub.

^^ You can login and fly the ship until you dock but all modules, etc. will be offline - which kind of sucks if you are logged off in hostile space with no means to defend yourself in something like a carrier.

EDIT: Actually I have enough ISK and probably a few plexes floating about so I guess I could reactivate on one of those to get stuff docked up - just can't justify giving CCP any more of my money these days or committing to playing the game in any meaningful way - but would be fun to jump on now and again and do public/purple roams sometimes.

Yes I saw in the FAQ about using it until you dock and the modules being offline. I think its in relatively secure space. I'd have to login to find out. I would be tempted to use the free account to move and sell all my mass stocked rubbish and generally do some easy missions for a bit of fun when the GF is working odd hours. Can't see me subbing again and getting engrossed once more. Too much else going on.

yes. i think the time when i could spend hours shooting at rocks is long gone. Would still like to pop in and see what space looks like.. see if the corp i was part of still exists.

Several of my characters are very definitely not logged off in any kind of safety and sitting in like 5+bn ISK ships.

I just can't justify committing to Eve any more as doing anything that involves playing the long game or working towards a long term goal is more likely to fall foul of overreaching developer changes than not before coming to fruition (or shortly after) and there are simply better ways I can spend my time than playing eve casually. I do miss the odd night spent doing a massive roam in cheap ships though - I can see stuff like exequror RR roams taking off massively with that change.

So many fond memories of EVE. Going out in large groups in low sec trying to stir up some PvP and when **** gets real running away scared like the real noob I was :D

Not often a game gets your blood pumping like that.

But then other things like the game being so ridiculously huge its not difficult to feel like you're going nowhere.

I'll login when it's available. When are the alpha clones going live? sorry if I've missed it.

Went back into the game a few months back, joined a high sec corp, they only mined, so did I until I realised it was cheaper to buy 1 bill isk on eBay than waste so much time mining, still did it just to feel part of the team:) Did missions too, still the same but now you need skills on skills on skills just to do what you used to do.

If it is going free to play I will definately return.

Having read a bit more on the dev posts, etc. regarding the changes to gang boosting it really seems quite poor - seems like a lot of people just wouldn't bother using it, some of the changes to like command modules are not a good idea at all if you look at what has happened in other games.

They really should keep a lot of the passive defensive bonuses like they are - maybe reduced a little in some cases and moving some of the higher/more offensive based bonuses to a more active ongrid role including splitting up local and remote repair bonuses in a similar fashion moving significant remote repair bonuses to an active ongrid role.

I can see why they are going F2P at the same time as it would just result in another step change downwards with active accounts.

The problem with gang boosts when I used them (years back) was you pretty much had to sit in a safe area while boosting everyone which was flat out boring. 3 gang mods meant you couldn't really run much of a defense or offense.
