The *Official* Eve Online Thread

Blobs are bigger than ever as they generate news articles so CCP encourages blobs. It's still the only MMO worth playing though that has got some nice updates.

No reason not to recover the old accounts, starting fresh will just put you in a worse position than you were when you left last time.

Recovered them last night, didn't undock but loads of changes from the looks of it, plus some ships have had their weapons and fittings stripped, I am guessing this was due to some patch or something?

My current PC broadly consists of:

Dell 2560x1440 TFT
Intel i5 3570K @ 3.4GHz
16GB DDR3 RAM
nVidia GTX 1070

I wish to run 6-10 clients at the same time at 2560x1440 (or windowed 1920 x 1080 would be acceptable) and can’t at the moment without lag when switching between each client instance and unacceptable performance. I don’t want to have to use minimum graphics settings either.

What do I need to change with current hardware to do what I want?

Ta.

I haven't played in awhile but even on minimum settings I found you needed atleast 2GB RAM free for the OS (more if you are using stuff like voice comms and leaving other background programs running) and ~2GB RAM per client or you'd get delays, etc. you will also have to experiment with fullscreen mode versus borderless "fullscreen" (which is what usually swaps between clients quickest) and/or windowed modes and GPU acceleration settings in the GPU control panel, etc. to find the setup that worked best.

I would check with a resource monitor to find the bottleneck before spending any cash. Check CPU, GPU, RAM usage.

I just did. Not sure how to export the results, but resource monitor reported 104% max frequency when using 6 clients and actively piloting them. GPU and system RAM were both fine, loads of overhead.

So does that mean a new CPU, MB and RAM?

Haven't watched it but R&Ks put up a new video

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qa31nDBsUJI

EDIT: Looks like its mostly based around the Serenity server though.

EDIT2: Not that great mostly a slide show of events on Serenity over the last couple of years.

Start watching it and fall asleep while i was at the same time full of rage due to some muppets in World of Tanks.
Most boring video ever.

Not having logged in for a few years I discovered my accounts were suspended and when i got them back some scum <expletive deleted> had sold all my stuff, including my beloved Machariel, and taken the isk. Fortunately the GM who sorted all this out for me transferred 8 billion isk to my account so at least I'm not skint.

I created a new character to have a go at faction warfare so just skilling up doing some missions. I'd love to get the bug again for EVE as it's the mmo I've spent most time playing but I struggle with any mmo nowadays, I just guess the older I've got the less time I want to spend playing mmo's.
