The *Official* Eve Online Thread

Did they allow supercaps to use gates? Must have been a half-assed way to try and fix fatigue while using the excuse that it would make for easy kills when noobs did it? what a joke

Was much better IMO when capitals had to use cynos and without jump fatigue. There were better ways to prevent people super capital blobbing, etc.

Losing (to dev changes) my old school Thanatos was a large part in why I quit though - I had a soft spot for those ships - spent a lot of time and money working towards them, etc.

EDIT: Slightly amusingly with the changes all my capitals (except for one Archon) got moved to highsec - I'm guessing where they were parked up became invalid with the changes at some point:

No wonder I had old mates bugging me on discord trying to ask to buy caps. Bet cap prices and everything else (mineral prices) went nuts if noobs could fly around highsec with caps running missions and mining? Any good kms of people still managing to get ganked transporting stuff in them?

There are strict rules on highsec capitals - you can't use them for missions or PVP, etc. and very few people have capitals in highsec.

The reason people were asking about buying them is probably due to the materials/market situation recently when CCP manipulated it so that capitals cost ridiculous amount in materials to build.

I see the price increase and some other changes have gone down well - active player population the lowest it has been in 15 years.

tried to get my old account back .. but they said no even tho all the info was correct ... oh well :(
As in someone had nicked it or you just can't remember you pw? Surely the billing details would be your own too or did u pay by time code or plex? Got to 2 stage auth everything these days to stop ppl getting in

password and main account name ... cc and everything else is fine .. gave them my secondary accounts on that one .. but it was 9-10 yrs ago ..lol .. sold my name sake (look him up ) and played with my backup ..
i'd never be into it as much as i was .. nearly cost my marriage .. but was fun :)

Yeah it was way too much of a time sink, fleets could be 2-4h and u couldn't walk away. Worse when fatigue came in and there was no such thing as a short op. I was hoping they were going to bring out the dust game to pc and do something like let us assault stations to capture. They promised for years but never did

Some FCs in the alliance where I last played did short roams that would take about an hour.

using wormholes to shortcut to pre-scouted places and then roaming there space ganking people.
usually we would get a few kills if they would take the bait whilst the rest of us sat a few jumps out :D

the sub cost is way too high anyway now for casual play

A bit cheesy but I did enjoy stealth bomber/black ops hot drops.

There is also new mechanics you can use with Pochven/filaments, etc. to jump around to find PVP, etc.

Suitcase carriers were the best. Pop your fighting ships in the bay, jump across eve, full recharge fit or right on top of a station, dock, undock (full charge), jump. Get to a fight and home quick without waiting about

So the high-sec wardec mechanics have changed? Years ago? Hmm might be time to try this again.
The last time I played this the constant war griefing was a huge problem.

Maybe now things have changed.

There was a change years ago and a change about 2 months ago, neither really prevent griefing either wardecs or ganking - though I don't play any more other than occasionally log in as an alpha to look at changes, the recent change marginally reduces how often you'd be griefed by faceless recycled alts but doesn't make much difference.

I thought the change years ago basically killed random wardecs? The small corp my character in doesn't seem to be able to be wardecced.

The war eligibility changes removed a lot of the small entities being constantly wardeced stuff but I was kind of lumping wardecs and ganking in one - some of the more organised entities simply shifted to mass churning new alts and alpha characters to grief corps they couldn't dec any more. There have been more recent changes to try and reduce that but it only accomplishes so much.
