The *Official* Eve Online Thread

Just broke through 500m today for the first time with it not involving an insurance claim :) so I'm averaging about 100m a month net gain so far. Pretty pleased with that :) time to start blowing some of it in PvP I think......

Remember getting my first can load of Pyroxese Feek????
I do indeed. It was traditional then to help the n00bs to the OcUK corp mine a can of ore to get them some money. This was long before the days of barges when it took a fair while to fill a can!

my first pvp experience.. had st john's on standby cause I thought I was going to have a heart attack :o

Yeah, I've done a bit, 4 or 5 fights, won 2, lost 2, drew 1 (mutual disengagement), and it's a rush! I just don't like loosing ships :)

Just wait until your in a fleet op in a bs, and get called primary. Your shield armour dissapear before you can turn your booster/rep on as 25 apocs/megas pimp your azz. Thats when i get izzed off at loosing a ship ;) :p :D

Hey DanSolo... rumours are you guys have been down and around Ascenia?

Looking for a little fun? :D

yeah :D

I didnt go personally, because of gf commitments, but about 10 of our lads formed up with an iron frig squad and went down to stain/ascn space, got a few nice kills too.

I was watching the final battle on my brothers pc, it was quite funny to see ascn reply in force. Kinda like cracking an egg shell with a sledge hammer. :D

The description on the ASCN forums was "massacre" :) Probably fairly apt, I must say props to IRON et al for organising a 60 man squad to enter ASCN space. Usually don't see gangs that large flying around just because of logistics (and jump lag!)

Can anyone improve my vigilant setup? It works ok but I wonder if i can get anymore from it.

high

1 modal neutron (am)
2 x modal ion (am)
1 heavy launcher (havocs)

med
faint warp scram
10mn mwd (named)
cap rec (named)
fleeting web (90%)

lows

2 x named mag stab
1 x active kinetic hardener
1x ss thermal hardener
1x ss med rep

this leaves me with a turret hardpoint free and about 40pg to use. Im training eng 5 now which will give me 93 spare grid with this setup.

Special Ability: 25% bonus to Medium Hybrid Turret
damage

Why sacrifice a turret point for a launcher?

I've never flown one but I put together some setups for ideas:

The first is more of a gank setup, ideally you could change out the hardeners for mag stab IIs and then do even more insane damage. The tracking disruptor keeps you slightly safer from turret ships as you approach them. You could swap that out for a painter meaning more blaster shots count and your drones hit better too.

The second setup has active cap boost an 800 charge will basically give you full cap. You can survive even if they have nosferatu, giving you the option to cap boost and try to kill them, cap boost and tank them or cap boost and activate the MWD and get the **** away!

Assuming Neutrons the setup wont have enough CPU for 3 hardeners given that you've added a cap booster to the "pre RMR" thorax, although you could drop to 3 energized adaptive nanos. It isnt the greatest setup after RMR as no matter of skills will make 5 mediums quite the same as 8 heavys used to be.

And an RCU in the second setup :(

thanks for the feedback.

Alien i sacrificed it to get some range. I can fire the launcher while i close in on the target. Also allows me to choose damage type. The 100 grid i lost for the launcher could only be exchanged with a electron blaster and they do no more damage really even with the ship bonus.

I used to fit the same setup with an electron blaster and an assault launcher instead of the heavy launcher, would this be better do you reckon? Or still stick with that extra blaster?

About the 1600mm plate setup. This worked for me in my rax. I heard that in rmr it would kill a cruiser though due to the huge mass increase is this true?

And yes rcu makes me cry too unless its being used to fit neutrons!

Mass increase didn't get put in to this patch.

However, I like using a mixture of ions, electrons and neutrons (heavies).

I was running:-

2 electrons, 2 ions, 1 neutron
1 web, 1 scrambler, 1 MWD
2 mag stab II, 1 medium armour rep, 1 400mm plate, 1 nano adaptive membrane

daz this is what im edging towards but it will not fit! it takes 1055 pg without the plate being included.

Have now removed the heavy launcher and am using another ion with a spare high slot.

If i do eng 5 and adv weap upg then i might be able to fit an assault launcher in the 5th slot.

I wouldnt say it was a massacre tbh, close but not quite. Im confident that we inflicted more damage isk wise over the course of the op. We got kills on several battleships, several (afaik) of hac's, several t2 frigs and various other things. :)

Also the final battle was amusing, outnumbered 3-1 and iron still walked away with a brace of kills :)

Speaks for itself : http://ascn.eve-killboard.net/?a=corp_detail&crp_id=1485

Either way it looked a damn sight more fun than ratting (what i was doing while waiting for the gf)
