You did WHAT?!?!
Why the hell did you even trust a pirate?! That 100m would have set you up in a basic battleship, or a very decent battlecruiser setup. Why the heck did you pay out?
Pirates are unscrupulous .. well... there isn't a word I can use to describe them on these forums, but you get the drift. Very few will even pay any attention to the ransom beyond "what an idiot, he actually believed us".
A few pieces of advice from someone who spends most of their time in <0.5 (its not all that bad, honest, I prefer it here and I don't do much PvP):
Always watch local. As soon as there is someone you don't know around (especially if they have low sec rating!), align yourself with a warp out point. At first signs of them arriving in your vicinity (appear on overview), warp out. If you're aligned you should warp before they've even had a chance to target lock you, let alone web you. Then make sure you safe spot for a while. To safespot, warp towards a planet's moon, and then partway along the warp, create a bookmark as you would normally. Then warp to that bookmark when you exit warp. That puts you in the middle of no where and rather hard to find. IF you've not been shot yet, quit the game for like half an hour, then come back. By that time they'll have most likely left the system, or gone after other targets leaving you free to warp out of system. If you haven't got an instamark for the gate, warp to it at 40km+ and check it out, make sure they're not gate hanging. If they are, safespot and log or find another way out. If they aren't, warp away and warp back at 15km, and head on back to empire space.

No Kidding
I quit after about a month of the game going live. Had a bad experience with a corp i set up and quit over it in a bit of a stinking mood, lol
I'll have a look and see how much your suggetsions cost, but i suspect i've nowhere near enough Isk yet.
Might I suggest then that you get yourself over to Isikano, first station in the list and apply to join the OcUK corporation? There are lots of good folks there, well experienced with the industrial / mining aspects of the game, and experienced at teaching newer players essential skills. They'll be able to help you get on your feet and figure out what you want to be doing in the game.
