***The Official Forza Motorsport 3 Thread***

After a favour off some kind gentleman. Would someone go to my Storefront and purchase something, preferably my Dunfermline Athletic badge, its only 1k but it took me a few hours and I at least want 1 download for it:) Also this has nothing to do with the achievement :p

just got this game a few days ago and getting well stuck into it :)

just bought myself a little Ford RS200 for the A class races. jesus doesn't this thing fly off the line :)

I'd like to get in on some of the Forza 3 online racing here :)

My gamertag is CHokKA, so feel free to add me for a game sometime!

Do you still need this done?

So this game is a bit of alright then? I wasn't convinced by the demo! I really enjoyed Forza 2 with regards to graphics feel and fun! However I play with a wheel on the PC and I feel much more immersed on old titles like GTR2!

Looks like a big purchase or Forza plus anther wheel for the 360 for me but it may have to wait for the new year!

A couple of things are really annoying me now

1) Personally think R1 / Season 5 cars are impossible to control with the controller (as apposed to pedals/wheel) without traction /stability control - its too hard to put the power down without spinning out with the limited travel of a trigger and be competitive at the same time

2))Im sure the penalty system is retarded beyond belief - Ive been penalised for doing nothing wrong (right at the beginning of races Ive already got cautions pulling away from the lights), and to have penalties from the last lap affecting the present one is beyond stupid imo

If you struggle getting the power down, don't rev so high round corners, I tend to short shift and it keeps me on the straight and narrow.

1) You just need loads of practise. Theres no doubt that with a wheel and pedals you can potentially cope better due to the larger travel involved, but some people have great control with there fingers too. I've got decent throttle control - just not so good on the steering comparatively! :p

2) You get penalised for slipstreaming and being slipstreamed. The latter is damn annoying in SP, since there is nothing you can do about it and you're not gaining any benefit.
The penalty carrying accross is fair for the most part, its just overdone in places. Say for example you jump the chicanes at the end of the lap at Le Mans, you could carry a huge amount of unfair extra speed onto the new lap. On the other hand having the same problem on Nordsclieffe is ridiculous- there is no way you can gain an advantage by cutting corners or something on a previous lap to help the current one. (ignoring slipstreaming here ^^)

I'd agree with this , I have a nasty habit of changing into a lower gear than I need to at times, and managed to ruin my best lap ever of the 'Ring by changing down a gear too far and spinning.

The penalty system is a bit daft at times though, La Sarthe for example is a very frustrating track to get a legit hot lap around.

When you watch GT racing you'll see they do the same IRL. the car will only hit the limiter on the straight, but rounds the bend you'll find the engine is some way off the redline.

maybe I should try manual shift - but thats adding another layer of complexity to already difficult cars to drive (and to a non driver is taking the fun out of the game)

Actually driving in manual gives you far better control over the car, you can select the correct gear to allow you to stay below the red line limit and thus cause less wheel spin and less spining round in circles on RWD :p

I only used to ever play with automatic, but after a few races on manual i don't think I'll ever change back.

Plus you see how early the AI automatic gearbox changes up far too early most times! You loose a good 500 + rpm by using automatic

I used to use automatic but the manual setting is much better, not sure if I care much for the manual w/clutch, sometimes I forget to engage the clutch and cause a bit of damage!

As well as the addtional control it gives you, it will also up your difficulty bonus - you'll get used to it after around 2 races.
