No, for maximum deceleration, you don't want ABS to cut in... it's on/off action makes stopping distances longer...

Of course, that is if you can threshold brake correctly..

You sure about that? I was under the impression the on/off nature of ABS only caused increased braking distance on loose surfaces such as gravel. The whole point of ABS as an invention is to decrease braking distance for safety on the road.

The whole point of ABS is to retain more control whilst braking, not to reduce braking distance, although it can do.

Further reading shows you are indeed correct, apologies. I guess ABS will help braking distances for your average munky in a panic on the motorway during an emergency braking situation as it'll stop them locking the wheels. Again it seems its a driving aid invented to increase safety on the road that ultimately restricts the performance of the car.

Tis a moot point for me anyways, i only ever play racing games with all the aids off, tis just more fun :)

I always think with all driving sim type games that if a car has ABS then it should have abs and to disable it the car should need to have a modification bought for it. If you are trying to simulate driving that car then shouldnt it be as close to the "real" car as possible, im not talking about auto braking and other driving aids. For example my brothers WR1 has DCCD so in the game shouldnt i be able to adjust the power to the front/rear etc if i drive that car?

You're right but i think its a bit much to ask with the amount of cars that are in games these days.

Hope it gets fixed in time for launch :(
EEK ... I got that while playing the demo, my old faithful 20gb model was out of warranty, and I couldn't be without one at launch, so a new elite has replaced it
At least I have 100gb more HDD space to play with now ;)

Roll on release, so looking forward to this game.
LE has been on order since last month :D

Vogon, if you talking about the standard 1yr warranty .. This may be of use:
After investigating the issue, we have determined that the E74 error message can indicate the general hardware failure that is associated with three flashing red lights error on the console. As a result, we have decided to cover repairs related to the E74 error message under our three-year warranty program for certain general hardware failures that was announced in July 2007.

You remove a fuse and your abs car now has no abs

ABS reduces distance to brake if you would have otherwise skidded, it shouldnt kick in so long as the wheel is still turning slightly

any car lists on the web yet?

Only unofficial ones, basically compiled from screen shots and videos. Complete car list should be released this week as reviews should be popping up from the 8th. Currently sitting at around 420 cars although I dont know if thats including the LE stuff.
