The latest beta was a lot smoother than the previous version from the play store. And funnily enough it was completely stable compared to the official version they have just released to the play store..

If you cant get the previous APK, maybe try the beta: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=21554668#post21554668

Thanks.

Managed to find a way around it. Just go into the Play Store and uninstall the update. The app will open as if it was a new app. So effectively, it reverts back. Which is good. But i have downloaded the beta anyway.

So last night I discovered Apotoide. Exceeeellent.

Aptoide, aDownloader, es file explorer, stick mount, mantalo for books and A Comic Viewer for comics. I am one happy bunny.

The comic viewer could be better tbh but it's not bad.

Gah I'm beyond frustrated with google atm.

I sent my nexus 7 I ordered through google play back for a refund (as I purchased two from tesco at launch) on 11/08/2012. It was received on the 14th and I have still not received a refund. This is despite numerous emails back and forth of them promising it's been forwarded to a specialist to action with 3 days. I paid via my debit card so I'm not sure where that leaves me in terms of getting my bank involved. It's beyond a joke that it takes over 1.5 months to action a refund, this is definitely the last time I order direct from google.

What if you had patience and just waited for the Google order to turn up rather than going and getting some from Tesco.....madness.

That's pretty irrelevant when I'm discussing how poor Google's customer service is at processing a refund. Regardless I was actually intending on keeping it as my sister wanted it but it had bad screen lift so I returned it instead. Of course please do make snap judgements before knowing the whole story.

thats definitely a contender for dumbest justification for a companies dreadful customer service 2012.

whatever his reasons are are irrelevant, we have consumers laws to cover this sort of thing, I often order speculatively rom a couple of places for something I really want that I know is going to be limited availability, does that mean I deserve to wait months for a refund?

I did it this weekend with the IP5, Apple got there first so yesterday CPW had a refund. No biggy. However when I legitimately changed my mind on my nexus and went from 8GB to 16GB I waited 2 MONTHS for a refund from Google.

They're **** and that's the end of it.

I can only make a judgement on what was posted cant I? ;)

Ive had no issues with Google what so ever, I wasnt defending them, I was just making a point, but I have already been shot down there ;)

Then maybe learn not to judge unless you know the full story. I didn't feel the need to since it was irrelevant when discussing how poor a company's customer service is when returning a product for a refund.

I had similar issues getting a refund. I never once got any communication back via email from the 'specialist teams'.

Call up customer support, insist on speaking to a manager/supervisor immediately. I managed to get one to finally action my refund while I was on the phone.

I'd also advice that every time you speak to someone get them to email you confirmation of the promises they are making (eg refund by xx date) as it gives you some leverage if you have to call back again.

Although their customer service process is a shambles, the staff generally are polite and helpful. The managers in particular seemed to appreciate the polite but insistent approach.

Once I got my refund I ordered a new one through Tescos using the deal recommended above. Third time lucky - this one seems perfect.

Hi guys bought myself the nexus 7 earlier on in the day and gotta say its awesome.
But i can see me running out of storage fairly soon and done a bit of research about using a usb stick plugged into the micro usb port. It says that as long as the Nexus 7 are ROOTED and have a utility called StickMount installed (from Google Play Store) it will work. Any idea when this feature will be available on the official software or will it never happen?

Going back to my galaxy s2 to text feels soooooo small now its weird :-)

I'd imagine that mounting external devices natively will never happen, as restricting you to only internal storage allows Google to charge £40 extra for 8GB's of space. Pricing based on capacity is a growing trend too (blame the iPhone).

You can connect a USB stick through an OTG cable in read only mode without rooting though. You need an app called Nexus Media Importer and an OTG cable (a quid or so from Amazon). You browse the contents of the stick through the app, and then select to play or view files in whatever app you have installed that can do it. I've only done a bit of testing, but I've viewed images and videos without any problems.

StickMount is a much cleaner solution, and is read/write access, but it does require root.

Pretty sure I read about a stickmount type app last night that doesn't require rooting.

Rooting is very straightforward though so not many reasons not to do it.

Just had a quick search and I think Nexus Media Importer is the app for the non rooted folks but please don't go mental on me if I'm wrong.
