**** The Official Google Pixel 2/Pixel 2 XL Thread ****

Quite sad to see people preferring the profiles, Google actually tried to do the right thing and have a better calibrated display and people are still preferring the inaccurate saturated modes.

It's even more sad that Google can't accurately calibrate the 'accurate' mode.

Whatever its flaws, and it does have them, a few hours in and i can honestly say i ADORE this phone. I never truly gelled with my samsung phone even though it is a good little phone, but this thing has definitely won me over.

Gotta say, I'm the same. Maybe I got lucky but the blue shift on my unit is minimal, everything else is top quality. The camera constantly amazes me.

The price made me have second thoughts about keeping it or not, but I'm glad I did.

Oh and I like the natural mode.

Just noticed on 8.1 there is now a face retouching mode when using the front camera.

Unless that's a result of an update to the Google camera app? But I can't recall one recently.

I know it's all a matter of taste but I prefer the saturated mode. Makes the screen look fantastic. All the other mode just don't look right.

One thing I've noticed that I could do on my S7 that I can't seem to do on this is to have a Wifi network saved, but set not to automatically re-connect, the option doesn't seem to be there, which means I either have to simply disable wifi or forget the network which means re-adding my credentials each time.

Unless I've missed something glaringly obvious? Is there an app to restore this functionality?

Oh and how long does it take this thing to install a system update. It's taken 15 minutes now and it's still only about 25% the way through Step 2 of 2 - on a 59.3 Mb update :o

Did you notice upon reboot that it didn't take long at all? The phone essentially has two partitions to update with. When it is updating, it is actually updating the other one, which it then swaps to when you reboot!

Yes I did notice that it just seemed to take a hell of a long time to actually do the update (considering the size).

Anyone come from a GS 8 to a pixel 2/2 xl?

If so, how you finding it?

I got a gs 8 being delivered soon but part me just can't help but think I should still get a pixel 2 or even xl 2 :/ Just those damn updates/stock android and the camera I really want.......

Well for what it's worth, I upgraded from an S7 Edge. It's one of the best upgrades I ever made. MUCH faster, slicker, better battery life, better OS, camera etc. Just about the only thing that isn't better is the screen, but its still a good screen, just not the best. If screen quality is really important to you then you're really not going to look past a Samsung or iPhone X anyway, but if you can put up with it being merely "good" then the rest of the package is really, really good.

^^ Very well put.

Same here, S7E > 2XL.

Its pricey but I love it, blue shift is there but not as bad as its made out to be, the camera is ******* amazing, and it actually gets updates each month, and isn't a month or two behind.

Edit: Incidentally, DP2 of 8.1 has been faultless for me. Still missing Bluetooth meta data on the Ibiza's display, (which was the same with the OP5T too) that was fine with the S7E. Other than that all is good.
