**** The Official Google Pixel 2/Pixel 2 XL Thread ****

Honestly these have got such mediocre to bad reviews.

You sound like a paid advocate so much of the time.

Ha Ha. I am simply sharing my own excellent experience with the Pixel Buds. I prefer personal experience to third party reviews any day of the week.

As a further example, reviewers this year slammed the OLED screen on the Pixel 2 XLs supplied by LG. I bought the 2 XLs and have found the screen to be excellent. So have many on this site. So who do you believe? Google and LG and your own personal experience or third party reviews?

And now to further make my point about LG OLED screens, note that someone who knows more about OLED screens than you, me and third party reviewers, namely Apple, appears to have designated LG as their second suppliers this year on their OLED screens!

Suggestion: Take the third party reviewers with a pinch of salt.

ohh thats who i bought my pixel xl 2 off and i'm struggling get an answer about a free home mini, i have a screenshot of them saying i would get one but nothing has turned up so far with customer service on the phone saying i will receive it after 14 days.......

When I spoke with google the free home mini was only when bought from CPW in a certain date (didn't you order from them on the 23rd? It had finished by then) or from google directly who until recently had it running.

I'm asking because I bought mine from CPW on the 23rd and the offered had finished with them by that point. If it hadn't, I'll be asking for one.

You say take personal opinion over 3rd party review then post a piece above about AirPod's written by someone who clearly hasn't used a pair.

Of course you find the XL screen excellent, you've never once posted a single bad thing about Google.

As for LG making the screens, you can be sure they won't be the crap that Google have been using, just because LG are making the screen doesn't mean it's an LG screen.

Samsung made the iPhone X screen, but to Apple's design specs, it's not just an S8 screen shoved in an iPhone there are real, tangible differences in the spec and design compared to Samsung used screens.

Samsung were making processors for Apple too, doesn't make it a Samsung processor now does it?

I'll likely grab a pair of £18 Anker earbuds, should do for the gym. I have proper speakers and headphones at home when I'm at my desk.

I don't think this says what you think it does.

What it says is that Apple don't think LG's current 2017 OLED technology is good enough to go into the iPhone X

Apple love competition between suppliers and actively drive it. The fact they didn't dual source the OLED from LG this year is a sign they aren't good enough for their standards.

Also, I do agree about taking one individual third party review with a pinch of salt but when they are all saying the same thing...

The USB-C dongle is garbage, just doesn't seem to work consistently with headphones.

Looks like I'm forced to buy some bluetooth headphones. Any recommendations?

I asked the question on the soundcity section of the forum. I thought I was going to get lynched by the audio 'gurus'.
I think I'm in the same boat as yourself. I've been eyeing up the Aukey or Anker buds. Possibly Tao Tronics also. I've whittled it down to about 4 pairs anyway to choose from now.

My wife has the Anker so I can try them out at least.

Just won a pixel 2 xl on eBay, but need a case, ant recommendations? Are the official ones any good?
I can't comment on the official Google cases but I got the Ringke Fusion in smoke black and it's a really nice addition not to mention the fact it offers plenty of protection.

There has been reports of slow updating of the January update then lag once it's installed. If it happens, reboot the phone again and it may do the 'updating apps' again.

I have the official Google Live Case. I chose a great photo that I positioned into place online and within a few days, the Live Case shipped. I chose the thinner option (there were two thickness levels to choose from) and am quite satisfied. I have had lots of compliments on the photo chosen on the Live Case.

Just feels it makes my phone really personal.
