Well i have received my phone and i love it. The screen is fantastic, the blue shift.. meh its only apparent at an angle. But going from an iPhone to this has been a breeze. I loved the way it transferred all my data and most of my apps as well. The experience is very very good. Smooth, snappy and ultra responsive. Very happy with my purchase so far.
Pulled the trigger on a Pixel 2 from CPW last night, price drop and a bit of quidco (hopefully) £489, can't complain. Delivery set for tomorrow, can't wait as my N5X is driving me mad, it managed a grand total of 37 minutes SOT yesterday and about 4h30m from 100% to dead.

I've been using my MPB charger as well, and find it's slower :/I also use my MBP charger and it's definitely quick

You will definitely enjoy the SOT. I have been getting 5 to 6 hours since setting it up last week. It has lasted me a fully working day whereby it 100% at 7am and then when going bed late it is around 10/15% when used heavily.
The battery life is great IME. I was streaming radio all day, tethering for a 90 minute presentation (almost all of intensive browsing as our platform is web based) plenty of usage on the train there and back (2 hours) and still had plenty of life before bed.
Just had the fabric case delivered, it's perfect. Not sure why it's got some bad reviews, it's grippier than the phone and feels like it will keep safe. Not much in the way of protecting screen (as in raised) so may still want a screen protector.

No worries - I ordered and then read the reviews while waiting for it this morning. I've the just black 2XL, so went for the carbon case. I thought the phone was slippery anyway so added the case has given me grip. My colleague next to me has the panda 2XL and he went for the cement one. Both feel good and look good.Thanks for the feedback Kol, I was tempted by the grey wooly one and now I'm set for it
The thing to remember, it is fabric so of course it can get dirty but one review complained because he spilt coffee on it. Of course it will stain.

My Panda 2XL hasn't been great bareback
I've got a light scratch down half the back, a chip of paint on the top left corner and it's a bit stained from my jeans already. I'm a bit disappointed, but I've never had a white phone that doesn't stain so I think that's just the risk. Also, the paint is apparently quite soft which makes it more scratch prone than something like the OnePlus 5T (anodized aluminium).However....another vote for the battery on the 2XL here. Was amazed that whilst away with the family over new year I managed over 6hrs SOT one day. This is impressive becaue it was on fairly weak 3G and included around 2 hours of satnav and music playing, as well as over 2 hours of video. It just goes, and goes, and goes a bit more! My S8 would have lasted only a bit more than half that I reckon.

I'm wondering which case to get for my xl 2. Quite like the look of the official carbon one. Those who have it, worth it?
I did go nekkid with my black 2XL to begin with, but the camera bump made me want a case. I like the Spigen but it feels big with it on.
I saw the MNML ones on Amazon the other day, and I've ordered a Peel from the states.
Apparently the Peel has better camera protection.

Just going by the devices I've owned, the S8 has decidedly average battery life. Not surprised you're seeing a big improvement on the Pixel 2 XL
I am 100% naked and just have insurance. Always been naked on phones. Only one that ever broke was Nexus 4 with glass back. Broke twice
You've got some balls of steel! Saying that the official cases are nearly as much as the excess for the insurance.
