**** The Official Google Pixel 2/Pixel 2 XL Thread ****

Yes same here with Facebook, been crashing every time on load since the weekend. I have wiped data, wiped cache and reinstalled but to no avail. Been using the mobile site through chrome since, it's probably better anyway.

At least it isn't just me then! The strange thing is that I don't recall any updates to the app and there have been no system updates since early January so what is causing it? Hopefully an update comes along soon to iron it all out.

I also haven't been noticing the blue tint as much lately (had the phone for a week). I've just put it down to me getting used to it.

I also have the problem with Facebook app crashing, but as of this morning it seems to have righted itself. Maybe Facebook updated in the background.

Here is a comment from Medium from a person who recently switched from an iPhone to Google Pixel 2 XL. Overall his experience was very positive and this link explains his thinking. Also he could not believe how easy it was to switch ecosystems, also realizing that while on iPhone, he was very involved with Google apps anyway.

Comments? Anyone know someone who made this switch?

So Google's audio books are more expensive.....

Hmm....I just noticed The Midnight Line (Jack Reacher series) by Lee Child in Audiobooks is £ 7.99 as an audiobook in the Google Play Store while it is listed at £ 23.99 on Audible, the Amazon owned audio book app. Similarly Fire and Fury is listed at £ 14.99 on Google Play Store Audiobooks and at £ 19.99 on Audible.

I am definitely interested in The Midnight Line.

Are you "reading" things wrong? :p

Buy the Kindle version of The Midnight Line for £9.49 and add Audible narration for £2.99 for a total price of £12.48. And you get a book to read with Whispersync compared to just the audiobook on Google.

Also I'm not sure you understand how Audible works. It's a subscription that you cancel at any time and each month costing you £7.99 grants you one credit. You could sign up, get one credit, buy either of those books using your credit, and cancel immediately. That book just cost you £7.99.

So long story short. Not more expensive. Isn't competition great!

How are people playing videos on the Pixel 2?

Google says it only plays MP4, H.264 for starters. But even when I copy mp4 videos from Windows - that work fine on my PC - nothing plays on the Pixel. I have a Pixel 2 XL.

Never really tried audio books but might give it a go. What is whisper sync ?

Basically, it keeps the reading position in sync across Kindle books, and across devices. Audible hooks into it, so your reading/listening position carries wherever and whatever you and your devices are.

I love me some Google, but I can't see them surpassing how well Amazon do it in their ecosystem, no matter how many bottles of Kool-aid someone's been at!
