**** The Official Google Pixel 2/Pixel 2 XL Thread ****

I think technically, by the letter of the law (Consumer Rights Act) the retailer is the responsible party so Google are going above and beyond the bare minimum here. I agree it's not great though, especially as Apple will deal with anybody's phone in store regardless of where it was purchased.

I agree, but EE apparently don't deal with warranty repairs for Pixels. They said if I did sent it to them, they'd just send it to Google.

It's a bit like RMAs for PC parts, some manufacturers let you go direct, others you have to get in touch with retailer who will send it off to the manufacturer to ship a new one out to the store, who then have to pass it to the customer.

A real ball ache when it's your phone which you use for hours a day though.

Massively - even more so when you have to deal with Google. Not sure what the fuss is with them, having to muck around going to a post office, waiting to have it sent out, then having to take a day off to take the delivery...

We need physical stores please.

Contacted EE and they're refusing to do anything because the phone was repaired by Google. Interesting, because they refused to fix it before and said I'd have to contact Google. Clever way of passing on liability.

Not sure where to go from here - I don't really want the phone anymore

I had the same issue with replacements being ****, FIFTH device was fine though :/

Google are very good to deal with, even if you have to send them your phone back first. Both times I used them I sent on Monday and received the replacement on the Wednesday. Also got to keep accessories, so have three chargers, dongles, adapters and USB-C cables now - this kind of made up for the shoddy quality control.

Persevere with it because once you do get one that is how it should be, it's a good phone. Not perfect but very good.

If you're past the 14 day cooling off period you aren't getting out of the contract, read the small print, they practically have you now for the term unless you can find a fault with the service they provide. Even if you want to sell the phone you'll be wanting a perfect one to get the top price for it and likely be making a loss.

Well you don't have any rights because you "don't want the phone anymore" you will be passed around the houses trying to get out of that contract and will likely end up still in a contract just minus hours and hours of time.

Your best bet is to contact Google again. Explain your replacement has issues and ask them to resolve.

Sounds like you just got unlucky. My charging port stopped working when we had that snow fall and I had been outside all day. I contacted Google sent my EE pixel 2 XL in on Monday and had a brand new one on Wednesday. Very pleased.

As a consumer, you do have rights - I bought the phone on contract, essentially paying for it on a monthly basis. If the item becomes faulty, you have to give the retailer 1 chance to fix/replace the item. EE refused to fix it, thereby saying it's up to Google to do so. However, my contact is with EE, so when Google failed to fix it, EE are still responsible for that.

I got a call from a manager at EE, explaining that I need to get proof of replacement, and then I can send the phone to EE and have my contact reset, as though I never upgraded

Do you have a link to the Dragonfly Red, I can only find a full size usb not a usb 3.0.

Ordered one from the rainforest which I'm really impressed with, can't fault it and is far superior to the one supplied in the box.

If anyone wants a link please send a trust.

It is full size USB, gotta use it with a OTG adapter. I think it was mainly designed for use with laptops etc. Its not the most portable solution
