**** The Official Google Pixel 2/Pixel 2 XL Thread ****

Pixel 2XL, my battery has gone down really fast today and I have not used it that much. Weird thing is nothing is showing in the battery stats. SOT is 36 minutes. 1% Pixel launcher and 1% Play store, 2% Barclays and 4% Whatsapp
Unplugged it 16 hours ago and I have 6% left. I normally get 2 days from it.
I have sent 3 whatsapp messages, updated a few apps and been on Barclays app 4 times. That is it. Very strange as I am a light user.
:confused::confused:

Close all apps and do a reboot. Charge again and see if any different tomorrow

There are two ways to get your app drawer. A long swipe up or two short swipes.
I only thought it was a double swipe as I struggle to do the long swipe up probably due to the way I hold the phone probably.

Yeah that's the problem. With the 2xl it's so tall the way I hold the phone one handed now needs two swipes up to open the app drawer. So that's rather annoying.

Evening,

Now this might just be me, but I don't think it is...

I've noticed that notifications are a lot less frequent when the phone is either left untouched on the side any time of day and during the night. Then upon either picking the phone up, or, and this might sound crazy, but when it senses movement I end up with a mass of notifications coming through.

Is this actually the case, I mean the phone isn't displaying the notifications when it's left unattended or isn't sensing movement/activity around it, or is this purely coincidence?

I work shifts, so very often the phone will be left on the side away from my bed without anything, if I then get up during the morning for a wizz, the phone just seems start pinging. Like I said, it all sounds a little crazy and far fetched, but I just wondered if anyone has experienced similar?

PS. No... I'm not wearing a tin foil hat! :p I'll await the normal OcUK Forum abuse :)

I only notice it with the Ebay notifications tbh. I have a sale and see the email from 30 minutes ago. Hear nothing from my phone, As soon as I unlock the phone 'kerching, kerching' Sale, Sold notifications roll in. Everything else notifies me correctly as we tested it with my good lady sending me emails, whatsapp, pushbullet, google photo comments and text messages.
I'm currently having battery drainage issues with nothing showing in battery stats. All day today not using my phone and its at 47% right now with 15m screen time, just sat there doing nothing all day. Unplugged at 9.15am. Bit pi**ed off as it would usually be on 70-80% after a day of doing nothing.

I've seen this a couple of times. I just assumed that it was a new level of doze.

Anyone know how to make the volume keys control ring volume and not media?

Genuinely interested, as I think you're in the small minority, how often do you change the ring volume? Is it if you're go out you turn it up, at home you just want a quiet ring? I'm not sure in the last few years I can once remember wanting to change the ring volume... (well, I'm almost always set to vibrate and sometimes do want a ring, but never adjusting the ring volume)

I used to use it to take my phone from silent to vibrate. Can't do that now. I have to press volume down then tap the pop up button to change to silent.

I'm the same, lack of easy access to ringer volume is probably my biggest issue with Pie so far. I've missed lots of notifications simply cos I didn't hear them and the volume was too low.

I ain't really bothered how much I use it, the fact is the keys only change the ******* media volume when im not on any media. And as said above my battery also seems to be taking a hit. This is all after updating. Knew I shouldn't of bothered, I can't remember the last time I've updated a phone and it's all been positive. Something always ***** up.

There is a new shortcut key combo for silent/vibrate mode. Volume up and home key switches it on.

I use the IFTTT app for automatically changing from silent mode etc where I enter/leave work. You can also use it for setting ringer volume too, say if you were inside or outside your home or on a particular WiFi network etc.

I wonder is it some setting to do with background usage with regards either data or battery - or both?

I have my Snapchat limited to not operate in the background at all because I was getting tortured with notifications. Now I only get pop ups from it when the phone is actually being used.
