**** The Official Google Pixel 2/Pixel 2 XL Thread ****

The Pixel 3 Live Wallpapers are out. I suspected we'd see these close to the launch, as with the Pixel 2 ones. I've linked the YouTube video as it gives specific instructions

Anyone on a Pixel or with Pixel launcher installed on their phone need only install the simple APK. Everything is accessed in the normal way.

Been using them for a couple of days - they're really nice :)

Yeah they seem to be. Do you have the flickering issue with the AOD? I do and Reddit is littered with similar complaints. It's a pity as they are very nice indeed.

I think I’m nearly reaching the end of my tether now with this phone. It’s been nothing but niggly bugs since day one.

I have just been on holiday, and on the way there, my phone decided to refuse to connect to my bluetooth headphones for the first time ever, while about to embark on a flight. This, as you can imagine, was probably the worst time it could possibly decide to do this. I eventually got it working by rebooting and re-pairing the phones, but I shouldn’t have to do this.

I have noticed a bit of lag creeping in these days. It seems completely random. Most of the time its really quick but now and again it just seems to slow down to a crawl, which it can either recover from or requires a reboot.

And now, I’ve just got back, forgot to plug my phone in overnight, but its really low on juice. I’ve had it plugged in for 20 minutes now, and despite “charging rapidly” its managed to get from 7% to 9% and quotes 9 hours to charge. Absolutely pathetic. Surely one of the main selling points of fast charging is the fact that you can get a good bit of juice into your phone in a short amount of time. So now I have to go out and my phone will probably go dead while I’m out.

When it works, this is one of the most enjoyable phones to use I’ve had, but overall, I have to say, it’s been one of the worst I’ve ever owned, and in combination with the sub-par screen along with the all the bugs, I’ve totally gone off the phone now. I had fully intended to keep it years but now I just don’t know how much more I can stand. I just want a device that works. I’ll probably end up on an iDevice or another Samsung - I had far less issues with my S7 Edge than I had with this. To add insult to injury, the depreciation is utterly horrific!

It's funny, I'm finding bugs with my Note 9 and thinking maybe I'll go back to the bug free experience I had with the Pixel when the 3 XL is released.
Ooh! What are you finding? As I mentioned in a rather drawn out post a couple of weeks ago I bought a Note 9 and sold it not 36 hours later. I just couldn't let go of my 2XL. The Samsung UI might be better than before but it's still not vanilla Android.

I have to say that my Pixel 2 has been perfect, unless the Pixel 3 has some incredible new features I doubt I'll be changing any time soon.
Anything in particular you would like? I plan to do the same, stick with my 2XL unless the 3 is a big improvement. For me a bigger screen and wireless charging could be the deciding factor...

Probably the most annoying one is BeyondPod just keep randomly stopping. I can't see any link to anything. It can be when I'm using Bluetooth, or just playing from the phone. I'm just trying to remember my login for their forums to see if it's an issue others have, as no other apps seem to do this too me.

I'm not convinced I'm getting all the notifications I should. One of my own reminder apps for example, should give me a notification at 10am of things I should be doing today, but I don't think they're coming through. I'm waiting for 10am today to see if I'm imagining it.

Never had either the issue with the 2 XL. Tbf, if it's an app issue and actually my notification comes through, I'm probably making a mountain from a mole hill! The post was more about how smooth and bug free my experience was with the Pixel 2 XL.

I can honestly say I have not had any of those issues with either of the 2XL's I've had. (I got a replacement due to a rattling earpiece)

I do get some issues with my cars Bluetooth though, 13 plate Seat Ibiza, when you first connect it the Bluetooth will cut in and out for a few seconds before it settles down. Only ever in this car and never with any other Bluetooth connection, and it does it with other phones so I'm 99.9% sure its the crappy in car system.

My 2XL has been brilliant, even the colour shift "issue" that had put me off buying the phone in the first place, I just don't notice it. I literally have to tilt the phone around to see what all the fuss was about.

I'm 50/50 whether to get a 3XL as I enjoy the 2XL so much. Maybe wireless charging or similar could sway me, but that's another point; the battery on my 2XL is so good I generally charge it once every two days.

used a 2XL for a while and now on a Note 9 and i can tell you eh screen is a breath of fresh air

The Blue Tint was always noticeable to me, i just excepted it.

Its the only reason why i wont go back to a 2XL now

How do you find the note 9 generally compared to the pixel ? I am on a pixel XL and debating whether to get a pixel 2xl/ 3 or go for a larger note 9. The main thing putting me off is reports of lag and stutter even with stock style launcher. What are your thoughts ?
