**** The Official Google Pixel 2/Pixel 2 XL Thread ****

I am struggling with my pixel 2 xl TBF.

wifi is terrible, random bugs, bluetooth is weird.. battery not great! only thing that's good is camera.

How do you find the note 9 generally compared to the pixel ? I am on a pixel XL and debating whether to get a pixel 2xl/ 3 or go for a larger note 9. The main thing putting me off is reports of lag and stutter even with stock style launcher. What are your thoughts ?

its a great all around phone

Depends on your budget really, the Note 9 is a lot of money.

The 2XL is a good phone, the Camera is amazing, if you like fast software updates then Pixel is for you.

id wait to see how the 3XL is, maybe wait for the Camera comparisons etc then make your choice from there.

Anything in particular you would like? I plan to do the same, stick with my 2XL unless the 3 is a big improvement. For me a bigger screen and wireless charging could be the deciding factor...
A screen that fills the current size of the standard Pixel 2 would be great, wireless charging, bigger battery. That's it really, I love it otherwise.

The updates I don't mind but if the phone is stuttery or laggy it would be an issue. Do you find it less smooth day to day then the pixel ?

And now, I’ve just got back, forgot to plug my phone in overnight, but its really low on juice. I’ve had it plugged in for 20 minutes now, and despite “charging rapidly” its managed to get from 7% to 9% and quotes 9 hours to charge. Absolutely pathetic. Surely one of the main selling points of fast charging is the fact that you can get a good bit of juice into your phone in a short amount of time. So now I have to go out and my phone will probably go dead while I’m out.

This is an issue I had last winter when the phone was cold. Sticking it under the duvet for 5 minutes made it charge quickly again - although that's not ideal because then the phone gets a bit warm.

To add insult to injury, the depreciation is utterly horrific!

When Google launched the Pixels (at a big premium over the previous Nexus devices) I had hoped that they would retain their value better, but as it turns out they don't and I'm also frustrated about this. Seems that only iPhones do well in the depreciation stakes because your average iPhone user doesn't really care about the price if there's an Apple logo on it

I had thought about just putting the stopwatch on, this will keep the screen turned on which theoretically should warm the phone up just enough to get it going. A bit of a weird bug, surely it has to be software but then if so, I wonder why they haven't fixed it yet.

You're right about the depreciation only Apple seems to escape. I had half thought about getting an iPhone 8+ but even they are still around £500 second hand with the iPhone X being more expensive still.

Despite the bugs I'll probably still keep the 2xl as I'll take a hit on it and generally speaking the phone is fine, most of the time. I do still like it a lot when it works properly, and let's face it iPhones are not without their downsides either.

I like your thinking but that will take you too far the other road. The Pixel is designed so that it won't quick charge while the screen is on, to prevent overheating.
