**** The Official Google Pixel 2/Pixel 2 XL Thread ****

Samsung should try releasing a stock Oreo ROM. Nothing added maybe make some of the touch Wizz features into apps like the camera suite for example and see how many more units they ship.

Hardware wise and looks the Samsung's are fantastic
I would buy, That is the only thing stopping me buying a Samsung. I still have a S2 going strong, we use it as a baby monitor and the other daughter uses it for games and stuff.

they did

google play editions used to be released of all flagships

google and samsung didn't update the software at all most of the time

the idea was great but google need stock android to be exclusive as a selling point. without quick upgrades what has a nexus or pixel got that truly separates itself from the pack?

Yeah I remember. Pretty sure HTC and Samsung had Google play editions. Was some time back.

It's just strange that you don't have some of the big guns doing stock android. As in give you and option when you boot up or a downloadable ROM.

Having had this for close to a week now, just wow, what a phone. It's the little things that make it better than the Pixel. Absolutely no issues with it so far (bluetooth fine, etc). It's a great fit in the hand, camera is stunning. The bezel is a complete non issue. Well played Google

Only thing I've noticed is twice last week I lost Google now. So unable to swipe left to right for news the Google search bar on the home screen also wouldn't let me click. I could ok Google no problem. Fixed after a quick reboot (which is crazy fast compared to my 5x).

Had anyone found a decent screen protector for the pixel 2? Got a spigen rigged armour case now.

Anyone figured out how to try these AR stickers they made a fuss about?

Nothing to figure out yet. The update to both Google Assistant and Google Lens to enable many AR features including stickers is expected in late November/early December, according to a recent note I saw in Android Authority.

If you have children like I do, I hope the Star Wars AR stickers appear just before the launch of the The Last Jedi!

Here is the link to which I refer:

Might pick one of these up. I liked the Pixel XL. I also think I'd prefer a smaller phone now and the screen is probably better on the 2 not 2 xl

Any standard Pixel 2 owners regret not going for the bigger screen then?

I must admit, I am more drawn towards the 5" model at the moment. Exactly the same performance, easier fit in the hand, smaller but better quality screen, and a not insignificant price difference.

The only bummer seems to be battery life - how are you current owners finding that?

I get about 21 hours out of a full charge which sees me through the entire day.

I watch videos on my phone in bed though so had to change my charging schedule. Instead of leaving it charging over night, i charge it when i get in from work and it will last me till about 9pm the next day.

No real complaints, and its super quick to charge anyway

Thanks. To be fair, my S7 Edge battery life is pretty mediocre now, I suspect the battery has probably seen better days by now so I doubt it would be much, if any, of a downgrade there. Slight downside is lack of wireless charging but I could probably live without it.

I was just away to order mine and delivery isn't until the 8th of November for the Pixel 2. I'm away offshore for 3 weeks the next day so I'll just order it before I get back at the end of November. I played about with the pixel 2 side by side to my 5X and there isn't much difference bezel wise really. It feels quite nice.

Likely because theres no real incentive to do so, I dont think Samsung offering a stock android rom would increase their sales as dramatically as some seem to think.

No regrets so after for me. Would have liked a bigger screen but not at the price? Battery life coming from a 5x has been a lot better. My 5x would do maybe 2.5 hours sot before hitting 15/10% and screaming for s charge. This has had me at around 3.5/4 is with over 50% left. So I'm happy with that
