**** The Official Google Pixel 2/Pixel 2 XL Thread ****

Turns out none of my apps now allow me to unlock via finger print. It prompts me, accepts it and goes green, but then goes to the login screen.

What's going on?!

Fixed it by going into each app and removing finger print access, logging out, logging back in with normal passwords and re-enabled. I really hope it doesn't stop working again.

Just called up the EE store I pre-ordered at. They have received no 2XL's yet and there is apparently no way for them to check either. So I just have to wait. The lady did say that if one comes in before my pre-order she would keep it aside for me. Why would one come in before my pre-order? It makes no sense.

EE, you are a truly awful company to deal with.

Shop delivery and pre-order delivery could be scheduled differently, more likely she was just trying to appease you.

Sounds like you have an issue. Try the Google support from the asaiant or wiping and starting over ?

I'm getting my RMA on Monday so no point yet. TBH the phone is only 3 days old and only just installed these apps, I'm just shocked I'm hitting issues so early, and seems I'm not the only one affected. I can't be wiping my phone every-time I have an issue. I never wiped my iPhones for an issue in the 4 years I had them.

Your situation with EE is similar to mine with CPW. I also pre-ordered and subsequently learned from this thread that others have received their Panda 2 XLs by simply walking into a store last week and having it delivered next business day!

CPW initially said 20 November but they seem to have no way to confirm this or let me know if there is any chance of one before then. Totally in the dark.

Fingers crossed.

Can you unlock your phone with it ?

Yea there's no issue with my finger print being recognised. It unlocks every-time, and in the apps it shows as green and recognised. The apps just don't seem to be "seeing" the auth from the finger print so ask for my password. If it was just 1 app I'd be OK, but all my apps at once having the exact same bug?

Strange I don't have any apps that unlock with my finger. So I can't compare. Sounds like it's the apps that need to update ?

I just checked PayPal and that works fine for me. But I think that is my only app

Is anyone else having issues with GMail not autosyncing?

Still got my syncing issue.

Just done a Google support chat and the guy just said it could be a temporary service issue but it's fine if my Xiaomi and S7 edge.

I've done everything I can conceivably think of. Hmm

Thats the thing, when I setup PayPal, Halifax and Nationwide they worked fine. Fast forward 2 days and the issue started happening.

I had quite a few updates over the last few days for various google apps/services so something may have "triggered" it. I hope so, since I don't want to find this issue again in a few days after making no changes to my phone.

I've just setup my PayPal, Tesco & Nationwide apps and it all seems fine. Not sure what could be causing the problem for you if the unlock works ok.

I really don't know if I can live with this blue shift... As soon as I tilt the phone, even a little, the blue starts encroaching at the top...and all of Google's interfaces are white pages... Makes it even worse...

I setup all mine a couple days ago. All working fine then today the issue came.

I assume you do not agree with Google that the blue tint "issue" is in fact "normal" for the phone. Many people who have commented here seem to think that in day-to-day use it is barely noticeable.

From what I have read in reviews, the Pixel 2’s OLED display scored a color temperature of 6969 Kelvin, with the Pixel 2 XL achieving an even cooler score of 7035 Kelvin. This means both displays have a slight blue tint, though they’re warmer than last year’s Pixel XL.

But if it is a continuing issue to you I fully understand.

To me the pure Android experience, the idea that I will be getting the first of any new software updates from Google, the camera, Google Lens, and whatever AI and AR improvements Google brings to market will come first to the Pixels, outweighs what I fully expect to be barely noticeable over time.

Hey look, the philosophical reasons are exactly why I bought it... I'm a tech futurist...AI, ML, and AR are the future and I'm all in on the Google ecosystem... And luckily I got the phone for £300 as part of a company scheme thing... But I notice it an awful lot... And my U11+ looks worlds apart....
