MPD Still say pending stock for me.

Think they will deliver today or is Tuesday/Wednesday now the likely date?

Would be a nice suprise to have it turn up today.

Had mine a week today and a great phone even flashed it with the Generic rom and have updated it now OTA, something i couldn't do on the stock T-Mobile one.

Just received mine - its charging at the moment :D

Incidentally, how long did you guys charge yours for the first time? Am I right to believe lithium ion batteries such as this one don't require the ridiculous 8-16 hour first charge because all charge cycles are identical due to the lack of a memory?

People say long charges but when mine was full it stopped charging so what's the point of charging it for long periods.

I don't know all the excitement over speech to text i tried it on my old phone the Milestone and it was rubbish, doesn't get all the words right and takes far too long to process it.

If you use the "backup to SD" feature, what is "lost" if you put the genric ROM on... Also is it network unlocked if you do this ??

You lose everything which didn't bother me its just like setting up the phone again, it will still be network locked i imagine but just means you are using the Generic rom which means you will get updates faster as they direct from HTC.

If is a gamble as if it broke your phone it might be hard to get it changed by T-Mobile so using roms is all at the users own risk.

It works well enough for me for it to be useful. The processing time is fairly quick while wi-fi connected. Not so good over 3G.

I find it very good for making notes in ColorNote where the odd wrong word does not stop me understanding what the note means.

Cool... I have no probs updating firmwares on my last phones so it doesnt worry me. Just taken me ages to get the home screens the way I like it and save the "scene" LOL.

Not sure whether to it or not tho. The OTA update is only "out" for standard Desire i.e. not the network branded ones.... I have found that sometimes the "updates" can be a step back for some features on my last phones i.e. shouldnt have bothered as it worked better before.

Until HTC have a log of updates with the changes, I might hold off....

Ta tho :)

Sinopa - Imissed your post about the "voice to text". Did you use the link at the bottom of that thread or the one on the first post which has since been removed ??

I used the two links on the second page. One was from megaupload.com and the other was 4shared.com.

I did that so I could check that both files were identical, thinking if they were different then one was likely to have been tampered with.

Last thing... I installed the "text to speech" app under the settings menu but cant find anything its used for. Tried Handcent but it says "recognizer not present"

"text to speech" + "recognizer not present"

Are you confusing text to speech with speech to text?

Same here, I just followed the manual, fully charged it till the light went green, then been giving it a few complete discharge/recharge cycles. The manual only recommended that, didn't say it was necessary.

I got mine around 2pm, couldn't see myself waiting till the next day to molest my first touch phone :D

"Text to Speech" is within the main settings menu above "About Phone". When you click on it you choose to install the feature which converts text to speech.

I thought that would mean if I use the "speech" option on Handcent it would speak the SMS... Just a gimmick but it wont work :(
