Has anyone else had any problems with the phone picking up a Facebook contact as the contact for carrier messages? I've received a message from T-Mobile and the phone has picked up a random Facebook friend who has put their telephone number as "...hah yeah right" or something equally amusing... I've tried to add T-Mobile directly as a contact AND deleting the friend from my contact list but no change! I don't really want to wipe and start again if possible..

Yeah I had that, very random. :p

I'm looking at a £25pm vodafone deal from MFD over 24 months.

I'm currently on vodafone sim only rolling monthly contract. Any know what the procedure is for porting my number to the new contract? I know it's a months notice to end the sim only.

Cheers!

A simple call to Vodafone customer services would sort that I would imagine.

Any problems that could occur with customer service etc when buying through MPD?

For example the £20pcm 300mins/300txts/ult web offer through t-mobile is:
18 x 20 = 360
= 129 phone = 489
- cashback quidco 35 = 454

= £25.2 pcm.

MPD £25 deal = 25 x 18 = 450
- £30 topcashback = 420
free phone
= £23.2 pcm.

A few quid cheaper, but is it worth going straight from t-mobile and also might it be worth waiting for orange to get it in as the cashback deal at £160 is seriously tempting?

Direct from t-mobile will get you 3GB internet allowance instead of MPD's 1GB. Might be a deciding factor for you.

Phone up T-Mobile i did when they first came in and got the phone free on 300 mins/texts the 3gb data allowance and unlimited land line calls for £25 a month on a 24 month contract.

Not sure if i'm doing anything wrong ,but cannot get the desire to vibrate when sending or receiving texts . pretty sure i've ticked everything vibrate related on options

it vibrates when i get incoming calls so handset seems to work .
any suggestions or apps to improve it ?

everything else is fine ,best phone i've ever had

Go to the messages app and press MENU and choose SETTINGS then scroll down to "Received SMS" and you need to tick the vibrate option there as well as having the notification bit ticked in the same section.

had a look in there and ticked every box ,still no luck !!!!!

Theses are the kind of quirky problems I had with my HTC Hero and the reason why I don't use Android anymore. The Android OS can be quite buggy, doing a full factory reset might fix it. If not, then I guess you just have to wait for a firmware update or flash it with a modded rom.

Also don't rely on the phone as an alarm clock. I was late for work a few times and know a few other people with android phones with the same problem. It will randomly not go off.

Can't say i had problem with alarms i use the phone as a alarm as i don't have another one and mines gone off every time on a hero/milestone/desire.

Maybe a stupid question

This may be a real dumb ass question... but here goes :o:o

I'm currently using a htc hd2, the more I use it the more I'm thinking it's a bit on the big side for me.
I've got my own exchange account and have my emails sync'd with my hd2 and my desktop, so the question is..... if I changed for the Desire will I be able to have my email and contacts set up as they are now with exchange.

Sorry for what may seem a stupid question but I've not has/used a phone with the Android OS on it before.

Cheers.

i'll try the factory reset .that might do it , i've emailed htc see what they have to say.

in the long run i could probably live without the vibrate function as long as nothing else goes

Mines has just broke, the screen wont do as its told keeps showing volume. After turning it on and off it is in safe mode and I have none of the apps there.

Awesome Stuff!!!!!

T-Mobile better swap it tomorrow and not send it back, or I will not be happy.

Virgin mobile deals looking pretty awesome at the moment too...800mins, ultd. texts & internet for £30/month. 100 less mins than the T-mobile deal but free phone...

Just my luck a decent phone for a change and it breaks! Grrrrrrrr

Unlucky :) - I've heard mostly good stories from HTC, so don't worry too much - hopefully T-Mobile will swap it though since it's only a week old or so?
