Hi chaps, what's the status on getting Froyo onto Orange locked handsets? I have such a handset I flashed with a generic pre-Froyo rom (not rooted) and I know that there's a problem with the 1.21 radio that means I don't think I can use the generic Froyo rom.
 
So what are peoples recommendations on getting better battery life? Are there particular ROMs that improve it? If so, do we know how and what they are doing different?

It depends on how you want to do it. If you want the official 2.2 then you will have to wait. If you want a custom Rom then as long as you use the latest radio (or 5.09.00.08) then you should be ok.

Just to let you know I have a custom Rom and have an Orange locked desire.

If you want to use the latest rom and radios you will need to purchase a unlock code for around £8. I simlocked my phone bought a code (10pm) and received unlock code within 5 mins :D
 
+1 for the HTC Desire club! Now i've got 330 pages of thread to catch up on! Whats the best step to take for modding this puppy? I've skimread and seen mentions of flashing the ROM, themes etc. What are peoples recommendations?
 
Currently on Leedroid 1.8c and liking it, but was wondering if there is a better alternative as far as battery life and performance goes.

I dont use sense (launcher pro for me :) ) so could use any rom really, but would value the input of others.
 
give OpenDesire a go, the only problem i have with it is there is no icon when you plug headphones in.

it's got custom bar settings, custom auto brightness settings.

current version is 3.1.2, but 3.2.0 will be release later today according to Adam.

EDIT: power settings thing is just a widget...

And does autobrightness work?

I'll stick with Sense ROMs for the moment anyway though as the browser is better (mobile vie can be turned off)
 
unplugged at 7am, currently at 73%

only did some surfing and approx 2 hours of mp3 player this morning, not much else. mobile data has been on all day syncing emails.

i dont use auto brightness, but you can set all the parameters in OD settings so it works how you want it to.

Im on open desire and unplugged about 9am and im on 95% at 3pm ...not bad, less than 1% per hour though ive not been using it much.
